Akwa ibom /calabar area was a major slave port and can generate millions of dollars in IGR today from visitors and tourist from around the world, just as Ghana is doing now . Having a waterfront is a privilege that should be appreciated and harnessed.
Akwa ibom and Calabar should aspire towards a mega city , should develop and open up the waterfront areas from Calabar ,Oron,Ibeno all the way to Ikot Abasi with waterfront walks,parks, boardwalks,piers,observation tower , Jetties, boat and fishing trip excursions, life guard towers,artistic statues that tell stories , etc. The Airport would be patronized by these visitors. With the waterfront development, Piracy and other such vices would be a thing of the past .
I would advise a dual coastal avenue which runs from Uruan ,Okobo,Oron,Udung Uko,Mbo,Ibeno Ikot abasi.
There are 100s of investors waiting for such developments to flock in and build structures and companies .
P.s the Museum at Uyo should be name "either Calabar Musuem" "Akwacross Museum " "Akwa Museum" or "Ibom Museum' in order to foster a sense of unity. The museum should contain the relics of all the communities(Efik,Ibibio,Oron,Annang,Ekid) and the museum should scout for more relics,artifacts, and art from Nigeria,Africa and around the world to occupy the museum .
