I've got coarse hair that's difficult to comb unless I thread it.

Kindly share softening tips.

Just relax it and give yourself peace. After forming team natural for 5 years , I borrowed myself sense.

If you still insist on team natural, you can silk press it with a hot comb and a straightener. It can last as long as 2 weekz

Why don't you cut your hair instead of applying unhealthy relaxer? undecided

I like to have a full hair. Do you have a research finding that says relaxers are unhealthy?
Re: What Are Your Tips For Softening Coarse Hair? by Naanlong01: 11:11am On Jan 08, 2020
First thing: apply relaxer . Second thing: Buy jack5 or j5 activator and apply daily as hair cream. What you will have after about a week of regular use is, a 24hr soft, wet and shining hair especially under the sun. I was using it back then in school, i must say that i was always the talk of the ladies anywhere i step because there is no way you will get to a place without the beauty of your hair being noticed, i remembered even the male folks that are close to me always touching my hair and the ones we don't talk will always stare with this look of amazement on their face. And before i forget, after applying it activator if you desire not to comb, you will have something like pastor chris kind of hair. The price was 850 when i started using it and it rose to 2500 the last time i bought it was about 3yrs ago. Try it you will like it.

Thanks for this. As a mna that cares about his hair...

It's the number 3 that I do a lot. I have comb in my car, and office. I comb anytime I observe scattered or rough hair. Meanwhile, am not so fashion conscious like that.

Thanks man. You don't have to do all three. But maybe buy a conditioner. It'll make combing easier. These products are created to make our lives easier.

lol i cut my hair monthly but i dont shave it to bald headed level(stone cold steve austin type abolo)..i just trim it down a little to make it look neat then i use hair cream.but for using hair relaxers..hmmm grin grin...if i may ask are u a christ embassy member? grin grin grin

LOL @ the christ embassy thing. I have been doing those things practically all my life and I have attended almost every church including christ embassy. I don't have Jerry curl or anything like that. The only thing you'd see in my hair is that it's always full and well combed. You'll probably just thing I'm one of those lucky ones that have manageable hair.

Back to the topic....

Well, if you like your hair low, cut it low.

But if you prefer an afro or a longer hair, don't cut just because it's hard to comb. There are things you can do. And those things are not that hard, just do it for 30 days and it becomes an habit.

I guess that's my whole point

I will recommend Oriflame wheat and coconut oil set. Set contains hair shampoo, conditioner, coconut oil and hot oil. Works very well at softening hair.

Sweetie, save your energy. I'm on the team and I know how my own was before I discovered the solution to it. Get two over ripe avocado pears, open them and put in a plate, mash them very well. Divide your hair and apply like applying relaxer. Cover the hair with a shower cap for 2hours. Wash your hair with your shampoo, conditioner and cream it. You won't believe it's your hair and you will thank me. Treat as above twice in a month.

I have noticed that most of us men don't care about personal grooming. If your hair is l stubborn, most men would simply cut it low instead of looking for a way to make it soft and style it in a way that looks better.

I am not one of those men. I love my hair. So I do the following:

1. Relaxer: This only softens it. I comb my hair while the relaxer is in it. It trains the hair to allow me comb in that direction. Please note that my hair is so tough that you wouldn't even know after I applied relaxer, once it's dried. The main effect is that is much easier to comb for the next 1 week or 2. I use ebony relaxer, it's cheap and it helps darken my Grey hair.

2. Conditioner: I recommend leave-in conditioner. Be very generous with it. But buy one that you like the smell. So that'll encourage you to use it. Apply generously to your hair then use a big enough comb.

3.Comb at midday: if your hair is as stubborn as mine. Combing once a day may not cut it. Put a comb in your car, laptop bag or pocket so you can quickly use it during the day. You simply entre a rest room and comb your hair, it's allowed.

For those of you that would say I am less of a man for doing all that. Don't worry, I agree with you. Ya'll are the real men. I am just the man that likes my hair and how I look.

I have posted the pic above. Just rub in your hair, leave for like 10 minutes then comb with a wide tooth comb. I love it.

Yes, but not like the regular gel that gums hair, this one will leave your hair wet and soft all day long. And for the price, i recently prescribed it for two guys and they bought it for 1800 as against the 2500 i mentioned earlier.

Hi bro,

Thanks for this post. My hair is like yours. It is very tough. So, I'm having a hard time keeping a normal full haircut because combing it is hard.
I usually use ozone to relax it. But this bleaches the hair badly. So, I immediately have to go to the salon to shave and dye it to black.

Please, I want you to list the products you use to keep it soft and maintain it (Post their pictures please). The ones I can easily get in any market.

I keep afro, so these are my tips for making it soft.
(1) Using a good relaxer when there's undergrowth.
I use original touch up plus moisturizing relaxer for coarse hair.

(2) I shampoo and condition my hair twice every week
I use V05

(3) I apply shear butter every morning and night after each bath.

That's all really.
My hair is quite fluffy and soft.
The ladies love it!

grin

Please, what is the name of the relaxer you use?
The name of the conditioner you use as well?

Thanks
