US President Donald Trump says Iran "appears to be standing down" after it targeted air bases housing US forces in Iraq.

Mr Trump said there were no US or Iraqi casualties in the attacks, and the bases suffered only minimal damage.

The attacks on the Irbil and Al Asad bases came early on Wednesday morning local time.

Iran said they were a retaliation for the assassination of top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani last week.

The killing in a US drone attack was a major escalation in already deteriorating relations between Iran and the US.

Mr Trump said the US would immediately impose additional financial and economic sanctions on Iran, which would remain until it "changed its behaviour".

The US president has previously threatened military action against Iran if it targeted US personnel and bases, but on this occasion he stopped short of this.

I read on different independent military sites, from conspiracy websites and the news keeps filtering out that Iran's strike actually killed a few and injured many US soldiers, don't know how true it is but it seems Iran got their pound of flesh back

Iran took out a significant part of Saudi's oil installations, equivalent to 5% of global oil output. No response.
Iran attacks US military base killing one American contractor and injuring 4 US soldiers. No response.
Iran prods their militia to attack US embassy in Baghdad in an attempt to sack it.

Trump finally said, "Enough". He took out their top-ranking general in one precision strike.

That's a President. That's a deterrent. Not that useless oaf called Obama.

If Iran had killed another American yesternight with their launches. By now, it'd have been raining fire and brimstone in Tehran!

Iran can sabre-rattle all it wants; but if it tries any of the nonsense it had done in the past few months again, there'll be hell to pay.

Iran even informed the Iraq government before the strike, so they don’t want loss of live in the army base but rather passing a message to the USA that they are in the game.

He said he is sanctioning Iran economically rather than responding with a military solution.

He also said he will be looking forward to Iran cooperation with the USA for peace in the Middle East.

Sometimes power is not enough, there are many things that might go wrong if USA attacks Iran coz the Middle East will be far more chaotic and it will have a counter effect on the neighbors of Iran and Europe in general in terms of migration.
