Buhari is a typical fulani, very cunning and highly tribal. Yes,amotekun can't exist without NSA's approval but the real deal is to make it a paper tiger ! How do you explain one of the conditions given that amotegun must work with the Fulani herdsmen, the major threat it was set up to fight !

Not entirely a crazy idea considering that not all Fulani herdsmen will be crazed killers. It is still very important to carry along the legitimate herdsmen and enlist their support to fish out the rogue elements amongst then. That is simply an intelligence contingency perfectly legitimate in crime-fighting and even more effective than brute force alone.

Why are you people always negative and given to thinking of the most unpleasant outcomes? Can we or should we go on like this? Hell no !!!! Every effort to improve security should be applauded and encouraged. You must remember that the only thing constant in life is change. Change brought the many positive things that has now improved how we live from medicine to technology et al.

In a country like Nigeria, it's quite normal to conjure up thoughts on the negative. Environment matters too you know!

"A top Federal Government official, who confided in The PUNCH, said, “Having studied the ‘body language’ of the executive at the federal level, some of these governors who do not want to be in the bad books of ‘Abuja’ are secretly going behind to give the impression that a particular governor among them was the one pushing for the regional outfit"

Just imagine. These people and betrayal.

Uubut Hisbah police is not restructuring? Stupid people.

That is an example of the structural imbalances that make the nation unworkable. Uneven laws, uneven aspirations, social inequality and justice, etc. And until Nigerians start to take seriously the things that really matter then we head no where.

Like I said yesterday if the restructuring of the security infrastructure in the southwest was a people-centric, citizen driven initiative, then there is little problem. The people will simply vote out or recall their elected officers who cannot deliver, baulk at negative pressure or sell out their patrimony.

However with weak citizenship it is clear that this project was a government led initiative, probably not in any manifesto before any elections thus can be recalled at anytime under any threat from outside.

It is time for THE PEOPLE to rise up and begin to fashion government, its structures, institutions, policies and programs in their own image and in their interest. In other climes when you see government take action in most cases this is as a result of the citizens demanding for that particular action, that particular policy or that particular program. Here we elect people and expect them to THINK for us and DO for us.

I cannot see how this initiative will succeed now that the Feds and the 'owners of Nigeria' are speaking up and putting their feet down.

you didnt read it well. The first few paragraphs said that allowing it means pushing for restructuring. I stopped reading after seeing that.

How can Hishbah police be in Kano and South West can't have security outfit to protect her people.

So Hisbah is not restructuring but ametokun is restructuring? Does that make sense?

My friend, Hisbah was not a government initiative, it was a 'people', 'citizen' initiative by the people of Kano who knew what they wanted, demanded for it and will certsinly defend the program if it meets resistance at any level.

If the people of the west donot want this security initustive to be truncated and suffer an untimely death then they needs to hijack it from the 6 or so governors and drive it themselves. 6 peole may fear 'the Presidency' but it highly unlikely that the 20 or 30 million strong citizens will.

Without the people, there will be no govt.
The govt is the people and the people are the govt!
Your attempt to separate the people of KANO from their govt or the KANO govt from the people is undemocratic!

Setting up a regional security is a sign that they are preparing for the sudden break up of Nigeria should it involves war.

This would have been set up since ages, but they prefer to worship and serve the Hausa Fulani's.

Even if a Yoruba man is given independence (Oduduwa Nation) they will still just want to bow and worship the Fulani's

I don't just know why the relationship with Hausa Fulanis

Alright, I sincerely hope you're right.

I believe intelligence is key. The greatest advantage of rogue herdsmen and interstate bandits in general is anonymity. They can travel through Nigeria committing crime at will and then simply moving on to the next State or even next Country like Benin, Chad, Togo or Niger et al. The background work to identify as many herdsmen as possible is as important as any physical deterrent in the form of men and equipment.

Let's be reasonable, rational and objective here.

Why would the FG be against Amotekun? If this operation is allowed, what would stop the Igbos from having their own version. If they have their own version, what gives us the assurance that they won't use it for Biafra?

Now I'm not saying Biafra is good or bad but I'm only trying to think from the FG's PoV.

Also, we've seen many seemingly good vigilante groups go crazy; OPC and Bakassi boys are fresh in our memory. What gives us assurance that this won't be another crazy operation in the making?

Lastly, let's not deceive ourselves, this is Nigeria. Most of our politicians have virtually no national or public interest at heart. How can we be sure that this isn't a camouflage for looting and a platform for promoting the political interest of a party?

These are issues we should be addressing not this shabby and bigoted journalism of punch.

''What concerns Fulani with visa? The Fulani that need visa are very few, and they are the very educated ones and are in government in other countries. Free visa or no free visa, Fulani don’t have any border.''

Do you mean they can go in and out of the country at any time without visa?

''Oh yes. They go anywhere they want from anywhere without visa all over the whole world, not only in Africa. They can migrate from Sahel, from Sudan, from Chad, from Niger, from Cameroun to here (Nigeria), nothing concerns them with visa. Even before now that bandits are trying to spoil Fulani name and image, there is nothing that concerns them with visa; the country where they just want to enter, they will enter and you can just see them.''

Let me not forget your tacit support for the FG supported killer herdsmen, as the only rational response to that (4th deadliest in the world) terrorist group is to form a vigilante group which is what the SW Govs are doing. Or perhaps you have a better solution?

Your type of reasoning will take Nigeria one step forward and two steps backward.

Obviously you can't read objectively. You only see things as pro-igbo as anti-igbo. If I haven't been to the east before maybe I would have thought all Igbos are this myopic.
