You go suffer in the name of maintenance

Do you kbiw how much it costs to maintain such car in a Nigeria where the repairers are few and body parts scarce in auto markets?

Coupled with Nigerian road cheesy

Do you even know its fuel consumption?

There's a reason why Nigerians love cars like Toyota

They don't consume fuel much, especially in this harsh economy where money scarce, a small fuel goes a long way

Toyota spare parts are everywhere in Nigeria market and they are cheap too.

Their repairers/mechanics are common too.

So know say there is reason why Audi is not common on Nigerian roads

Whoever told you Nigerians don't buy German cars is a lie. Maybe u have also been looking in the wrong places.
There are good mechanics available for these vehicles. You don't have to follow the crowd to buy a Toyota. Not everyone would be interested in a Toyota you know. And besides, luxury is not meant for everyone but those who can afford it

The Toureg diesel engine was.built to last but very expensive and scarce to get, the petrol I can't talk much but the Toureg has electrical issues the Air suspension though is solid.

The Q7 is very very available and common I think it is the issue of where you stay,in ikoyi and Lekki Audi Q7 with 3.6 Quattro common like pure water.

That car is a money pit. Better get a scanner and service manual to go along with it. If you must get a German car, I would advise BMW and Mercedes and nothing else.

There is a stereotype of German cars in Nigeria that

1. They are very unreliable

2. They are fuel guzzlers

3. They don't have spare parts available and their parts when available is very expensive than a Toyota part.

4. No mechanic can work on them without causing more wahala.

When you add all those ingredients together it determines the price of the vehicle. The 07/08 tokunbo is around 3.5m I don't think that is cheap, Audi is a luxury brand not a premium brand like the Porsche cayenne or Bentley bentayga

It's still cheap tbh. How much is an 07/08 toks highlander?

Audi Q7 is the 1st SUV from Audi and it ran for 10years which is a disadvantage, the 05 to 09 may seem cheap at 3.5m but the facelift 10 to 15 aren't.

Price also depends on what engine it is fitted with, the 3.6L engine may seem cheap but the 4.2 and V12 aren't cheap. can't talk much for the diesel though.

It is more expensive than a 01 to 07 Highlander, price on par with a RX330 but facelift RX350 is more expensive than it.

I still don't think 3.5m is cheap for the Q7 though you are just looking at it's size that it looks big it's a crossover SUV.

i saw a 2010 tokumbo for that amount. why i say its cheap is because fr same 2010 of toyota with similar specs, the toyota will be way more expensive than this

1. Toyota is way over priced and shouldn't be the standard for car prices.

2. As the second biggest automaker in the world, VW product have shitty resale value here in nigeria, people don't buy them especially recent models.

3. The Q7 is the 1st SUV by VW and it's sale was very bad for the 1st generation, quantity sold was very minimal.

4. Compared to the competition Benz ML and BMW X5, the price you got is missing just 500k to a million naira which I think is still fair.

5. It ran for 10years while other competition already have 2 to 3 competing generation, it's like an old wine in a new bottle.

if you like it, buy it and maintain it well you will enjoy every drive in it.

I drive an Audi A6 manual gearbox and Mercedes Benz ML 350 automatic transmission. I can categorically say that German cars are the real deal, they are durable, good for everyday use but requires regular service... As far as you are ready to service your car as and when due with original parts then you are good to go.

Again avoid Shakiru mecho, Taju foga and Fatai break_master. These set of road side hustlers will destroy your car in no time, go to well known mechanics in your area who are qualified to fix such cars.

Good luck!.

Mazda is like a dead beat in Nigeria except those that are old and those that are identical to Ford.

You will have issues in part replacement and technical know how, except if you can order parts Sha.

I hope you won't eventually fix Toyota engine when you buy ooo grin

I own two VW Touareg T3 VR6 exec/lux models. one is 2011 and the other 2013. Coming from a person that has owned Toyota Highlander 2009 model, Mercedes E350, I can tell you that VW is the best car I have ever driven for my money. The off-road capability of the Touareg makes it a perfect case for our Naija bad roads. Just don't buy the model with Air suspensions, they can be very expensive to fix. People say the price of VW parts is expensive. Yes this is true. But on what basis are you comparing it to? This car is in Audi Q7, Porsche cayenne, and ML350 segment. The front headlamp of my TReg costs between 90 - 100k (one unit), the front headlamp of 2012 ML30, Audi Q7 and GLE cost even more.

These are german machines, please stop comparing them with Highlander. The TReg is over 6000 lbs weight. meaning its body was built with solid aluminum metal. It will drive for years without going out of shape. The highlander, even Opay motorcycle and disfigure it in a minor accident.

Earlier versions of Treg 04-09 models were known for electrical problems, but tech has come along way since then and this car is beautiful as hell.

Year on year, TReg and Audi are not cheap at all compared to Toyota. Also Nigerian market tends to make the toyota products over valued due to belief or reliability.

Every car. I repeat every car will die if not properly maintained. Touareg and Audi are luxury vehicles, and shouldn't be compared with Toyota.

2011 - 2014 Treg is between 8.5m - 13.5m
2011 - 2015 Audi Q7 is between 9m - 15m toks
2011 - 2014 Highlander is between - 6.5m - 12.5m

In terms of Fuel consumption, The Touareg TDi has the best mpg of any of the 3 mentioned SUV. The VR6 petrol cylinder isn't bad as well but its mpg is still as good the higlander at 19mpg vs 19.5mpgs. This is still very impressive considering the amount of torque and horseposer the Treg engine churns out.

My brother, if you have money, buy a good car and enjoy it. Treg and highlander are not mates. Treg is basically a 5 seater version of Q7 since they share the same parts and built from same factory line.
