GAZZUZZ:
when you arrive there are 2 options. 1, take my 1k O.D or 2 check paper and let me go.

I always ask before I park which way it will follow as I have confirmed custom duty payment.
But pls, how do u calculate that from the custom duty paper itself so one know if the actual duty was paid in full or not?

so the car came in for a minor fender bender and i took it for a spin from shop to mushin. This is achieveable in traffic and slow moving conditions.

At the end of the trip, the car congratulates you for driving economically.

@Gazzuzz. i cant help but notice your knowledge in electronics skills. I have a question i pray you respond.
If a high power/voltage and smaller Sic MOSFETs and diodes became commercially available at an extremely cheap price that opens up new possibilities. How or what applications do you imagine it can used on that would be game changing for society?

Ha ha ha ha.... but it has already been invented. just wondering what smart brains can make out of such inventions. what do you imagine it can be applied to that would be revolutionary? it can even be in your field of automobiles. There is a reason i ask

Correct. Hybrids are built for stop and go traffic not road trips. That being said, this is still low for a Camry hybrid. It's rated at 34mpg mixed driving. Poor fuel will lose you about 3-5mpg. It should be giving about 30mpg factoring fuel and lead foot. There is an inefficiency somewhere in the system but not too bad at 26mpg.
Hello Ma,

I have a 2010 corolla, the fuel consumption is nothing to write home about, there's no check engine light. I've changed the air filter and cleaned the 'nozzle' to no effect.
A weekly N5,000(35.48L) gives me 200 miles with AC full time.

In my calculations I should be getting 240 miles if indeed the mpg is mpg city and "26 mpg city and 35 mpg highway and 30 combined.

What could be the cause because the car shortchanges me about 8miles per N1000 fuel.

I brought it to your workshop about 2months ago and since there was no check engine light, your workers said all is good.

I also noticed that once I press the accelerator, it seems air/gas is escaping from under the hood. What could be the cause.

I think vehicles fuel economy as stated by manufacturer is done under controlled conditions without AC and other accessories on, so try driving around without AC and recalculate ur vehicle fuel economy. By the way this thread is dedicated to hybrid related issues. Direct ur query to other gazzuzz thread for a response.

As someone who is usually concerned if my car is consuming fuel (even without check engine light), I will say what you have is reasonable. My 1.5L engine Yaris gives me 250miles on 42litres so I think your 2.4L Camry, which is not hybrid is doing okay. Trying to hit the manufacturer spec in naija may be a tall order, what is important is that the difference should not be much and yours seem to satisfy that.

Wao, yours is pretty high o. I use corolla 2010, 1.8l that's why am concerned. 34liters(5k fuel) gives me 200miles with AC all the way... Madam no de gree wind down grin

Having a lower engine displacement does not necessarily mean your car consumes less fuel.

Gazzuzz! my wrong here then, if I only skimmed your stuffs, and concluded otherwise.

You did called me as regards the problems you were encountering on that car, and the codes you retrieved.

You asked what was the way forward, and how do I usually fix such problems?

I responded by saying, the code depicts a problem with any k the hybrid system components, usually, the battery compartment.
Told you what to look out for, and all that.

I even suggested, if you can't handle it, can you tow the car down to my base? you said no!

So now, how was my response to you not helpful here?

Like I always say, this market is soooo huge.
No one person can fill up all the repair "voids" on here.

I know the competition is very stiff out there.
But you do realised that, WE ALL NEED ONE ANOTHER TO ACHIEVE A SET GOAL?!
Its that easy.
That's the mentality I possess.

PS: It appears to me, ever since, that we kind of have a "government and cabinet" of some sort on NL.
I sometimes look at the trends when an opinion from other persons are at odds with the established "government", it looks like some form of state of emergency is always declared, with " yan hisba" implementing such policies.

Let's be aware pls that this is a public forum, and perhaps foreigners might be on here, surprised at our lack of acceptance of criticism (+ve or not).

Joseph

Why are you sounding pained if I may ask? Because the real you is being exposed in the process of the discussion?
Correct

Absolutely a nice thread.
Some pointers here:
1. this would be a great learning curve for you.
understand it isn't a straight line stuff though.
2. there are absolutely great differences between the Transformer based and other...charging systems.
3. seeing the battery module you've got displayed, it pretty much seems you got that from Ladipo?!
4. at what current inputs did you "pump" the modules while you guys were charging them?
5. charging the battery pack, without such parameters in mind, such as how you take care of heat generation during charging, would only deteriorate the packs, and eventually destroy them.

6. in Nigeria, people aren't just patient. especially hybrid vehicle owners.

7. rebuilding such batteries, practically, takes more than a week, if you've got the right gridchargers, and some intelligent ones too.
those chargers are all over the place online.
some of my battery rebuilds, takes about a month to fully bring them to state of health necessary for sustainability.

8. so if you're looking at a reliable and sustainable battery pack "repair", you got to get a new pack, or go the rebuilding way, as I do sometimes (but you got to follow established protocols to get desired results).

9. the Ladipo guys are specialist in doing what I called, " replacement and go job". they don't bother or care what the procedures or protocols are, in charging such battery chemistries.
for them, as long as the car initially is functional, after a battery boost, then its fine. afterwards, you're on your own!

10. what do you mean by "bypassing the brake"?
are you literally saying you disabled the electronics part of the EBS, and now have the brakes totally working via the hydraulic loops only?

PS:
You must LOAD TEST ALL MODULE PAIRS IN THE BLOCKS.
TESTING WITH A DIGITAL METER ALONE, FOR VOLTAGES WONT GIVE YOU A BETTER RESULT.
