However as suggested by Genius, visit the Xiaomi Thread before making your choice.

Mi A3 is powered by Android One which means you wouldn't be getting MIUI out of the box.

If you want a MIUI phone, get yourself a RN7 or RN8 (i.e. Redmi Note), it seem popular among Nairalander. This are Xiaomi budget phone.

Redmi 8 or 8a is also a cheaper option to test waters with Xiaomi phones.

If your budget is slightly higher, try MI series, like Mi9, Mi9T, or you can simply get yourself a Mi Note 10 or 10pro which comes with a 108MP back camera out of the box.

I would highly recommend you get it from any seller on Xiaomi Thread Store, their price is cheaper compared to Xiaomi Nigeria price.

Ali price is cheaper but time consuming. As for price on Ali, check the attached image. (Note - That's end of year sale period price.)

I also can't give you an honest and true comparison of Android One Vs. MIUI until I take delivery of my Mi A3.

I can talk about MIUI, because it runs on Redmi 5a that I use currently.

I can do comparison between iOS and MIUI because I dumped iPhone 5s for Redmi 5a.

So until I take delivery, use Mi A3 for sometime, I really can't give an honest review yet.

I disagree about the ads. There are none on my device. The only source of ads of my phone are from 3rd party apps lik MX player etc. Other than that MIUI ads can be turned off

I use a Redmi Note 7. It's around 8 months old now. Zero ads, phone still runs like I bought it yesterday. No single scratch.

If you wanna get a good camera phone. I would prescribe the RN8/Mi A3 and above depends on your budget. MI9T and MI9T pro are also good options. The Mi10T/K30 is already out. Mi Note 10 with 108 mega pixels is also there.

OS:
MiUi is the skin of Xiaomi phones and it comes with many functions like picture in picture, multi tasking windows (imagine having WhatsApp open while browsing in chrome and replying FB messenger at the same time) etc.

Android one is pure android with just basic android features and nothing more.

Android one are guaranteed two generations of android updates, that is if you buy a phone running on Android 9 now, you'll get updates for Android 10 and Android 11. MiUi only gets one generation of updates.

Please do not buy from AliExpress. I kneel down dey beg you. Buy from Macbeyland or Ifedith, I can swear ony great grandfather's grave for their honesty and reliability. If you don't want to buy from NL. They sell Xiaomi at Airport road near GiGM terminal. They also sell at Slot on Ekenwan road.
