STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

GAINS WE’VE MADE ON DIFFERENT FRONTS, BY PRESIDENT BUHARI IN MEETING WITH BRITISH P.M

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday brought British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, up to speed with developments in Nigeria, reeling out gains in different areas of national endeavour.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020, in London, and President Buhari told P.M Johnson of strides in agriculture, leading almost to self-sufficiency in rice and other grains, saving the country billions in foreign exchange, which are now deployed to other areas of development.

On the war against insurgency, the President said things were a lot better, with the disabuse of the minds of the people on the true philosophy of Boko Haram, and the main challenge being in the area of resettling displaced people, which is being tackled frontally.

“We have a long history with the British military, and we are collaborating,” President Buhari added.

On the anti-corruption war, the President said though it was slow but painstaking, the cooperation of the National Crime Agency of UK was still needed, particularly in the investigation of fugitives from Nigeria finding accommodation in the United Kingdom.

Climate change, President Buhari said, was a challenge to Nigeria and neighbouring African countries, especially with the shrinkage of the Lake Chad to a minuscule of its original size.

The Nigerian Leader also said the country was focused and making progress on education, particularly that of the girl child.

P.M Johnson thanked President Buhari for being a regional leader who gives strong encouragement to the West, congratulating him on jobs being created through agriculture, and urging him to do more.

He equally lauded the Nigerian President for what he calls the “social and economic benefits” that have accrued to the country since he emerged, and that the necessary hand of fellowship would be extended on the war against corruption, through the National Crime Agency.

The British P.M pledged to cooperate with Nigeria and other African countries in the inter-basin water transfer, which could solve the Lake Chad problem, and enhance security in the sub-region.

On the Commonwealth Free Trade Area, being espoused by President Buhari, the Prime Minister applauded the idea, and pledged a careful consideration.

He charged the Nigerian Leader to keep the national autonomy of his country intact, noting that in the future, Nigeria would not just be a continental but international power.

It is unfortunate though when you see experienced and sometimes well informed African heads of states reporting to ignoramus like Boris Johnson or Macron with tribal population.

They preach Foreign Investments from countries that stole everything from Africa and collude with local and foreign money launderers.

When are we going to wake up.

Lol, do you think UK officials are as dumb as he is?

They know he is lying.
They know Boko Haram is far from over.
They know Boko Haram are soft on Muslims but brutal on Christians
They know Nigeria's economy is sloppy, inflation is rising and poverty is increasing.
They know that Buhari's anti-corruption fight is lopsided - fighting political enemies but shielding allies.

They know, they know everything but you see, he is their guest. You won't embarrass your guest.
If you know, you know

Do you think everyone is as dumb as you are?

One of the major reasons Buhari went to UK is because UK wants to focus more on investing in Africa now and no longer in giving aid.

Nigeria is the best country to invest in right now so I am sure Buhari went to emphasize on this.

Nigerian economy now is the best in Africa and among the best 15 growing economies in the world.

Our economy is the biggest in Africa and the best brand in Africa after overtaking south Africa.

You need to watch BBC and Aljazeera instead of Africa magic. The news was on there just this morning.

BORDER CLOSURE: THE FATE OF PETER - A ROB PETER TO PAY PAUL SCENARIO.

Lagos is what it is, because of its proximity to the seaport, so also is the border to many communities, town and villages which have existed close to it. The border closure to those living very close to the border is more like shutting down the seaport in Lagos. Sure, transport workers would be affected, those who earn a living around the port would surely lose their businesses, the rich would become poor, likewise the poor become poorer.

15 out of the 36 States in Nigeria has communities which has since it's origin built their day to day living around the border. Either those who specialize in transporting goods from the borders, to those who Warehouse them, to those who haulage the goods to and fro between the vehicles and the warehouse to Mama-Put who is waiting for the labourers to retire to her shed as they celebrate their day pay, to the business man who lodged in an hotel monitoring the goods to ensuring they are intact, to the mechanic who prays one of those vehicles running haulage comes to service their vehicle, to the spare part seller, to the provision sellers that believes more money in circulation would stimulate her business and the little kid who was driven from school hoping his parents would have made enough sales to pay a part of his school fee, to the principal, teachers, printer, tutorial coach and the list is endless.

Then it hits them so hard that the border where their incomes comes from been closed. At first, everyone keeps hoping high, hoping the border closure won't last more than few days, everyone is smiling not knowing the kind of situation and mess that lies ahead. Spendings are still as though nothing happened. Hopes are high, expectations and optimism eventually losing momentum like a spinning fan which has been disconnected from electricity. The longer their hopes linger, the more their ability to stay hopeful fades. Hope deferred makes the heart sick.

As times goes on, businesses fold up, the town's become deserted, loans cannot be paid, properties are confisticated, dehumanizing thoughts rage, people take to drugs to subside tension and griefs. The young boy who gets enough income to sustain himself has no where to run to. Crimes in the society begins to be on the rise and as he tune to his television having ran out of DSTV subscription, he finds on NTA a well dressed man with nice trimmed beard saying to him, how the border closure has boost production in his company. Its merely a scenario of Peter robbing Paul the poor boy reflects as he feel the whole narrative was a scam. While Peter is lamenting seeking media attention to express his ordeal. The media are after Paul who is rejoicing that the economy is booming since that's the purpose of their existence.

Comparative advantage was one of those favorite topic my economics mind would never forget, in comparative advantage, we are told that, its better that a country produce a goods if its final price would be lesser or equal to that from another location.

So far so good, ever since the closure of the border, cost of rice has skyrocketed despite the fact that the quality of the locally produced rice is lower and the stones which are a bonus too.

Well, I am not really against border closure, at least why do we have leaders if they can't come up with policies. At least, policies are policies whether they favour the dying man or not. But my bullseye is this, now that the border has been closed. How would those who are affected survive?
.

" Life is like a flux of fire, always changing "
Says a Greek philoshoper called, Heraclitus.
GMB or PMB as his critics call him now adays, has failed us in many ways, reminding us that only God, can answer our hopes & aspirations.

However electing a particular politician for particular job of reviving Nigeria to its esteem place in the committee of nations is no joke.
The boarders closure would have revived the economy of many countries to the extent that, critics like you would have applauded GMB, truth be told Nigeria is a banana republic, for corruption has eaten deep into the system that, an ex president said" stealing is not corruption ". These boarders communities are like palm oil to yam, in these acts of shame, of smugglings & inter boarders banditry. Boko haram are existing today because of our porous boarders.

I feel your pain, in the slow success of the closure, however the benefits out ways the pains, if not like I said, earlier life is like a flux of fire, APC will surely loose election in the future, and PDP elements will predictably take us back to the age of stealing is not corruption. May God help us. Viva Nigeria, Viva Africa.

And unfortunately the closure may last until the end of this regime. Remember this same situation and leader in history exactly 35 - 36 years ago.
