Good day everyone, i will try to make my complain brief and straight.
I equally want to beg everyone to forgive and forebear my grammartical blunder(s) if any,and please focus on the merit of my complaint. A very reasonable and useful advice is appreciated.

And now to the main issue, it was on the 12th day of December 2019, that i effected an online transfer via my Access bank mobile app, to another Access bank account and the transfer was confirmed successful from my own end and i was duly debited the sum of #81,000.

But to my surprise, the following day,the intended recipient called me insisting that i never sent in the money, i couldn't believe it so we scheduled to visit any Access bank branch,to check whether or not, the money is in his account.
We confirmed from the bank that he was actually not credited, and the customer agent assured me of reversal of the money into my account.

From then till now, i have visited the branch and called the customer line countless times albeit fruitlessly, i have written a letter they told me to address to the branch manager, i have had a meeting personally with the branch manager,of which she promised to take it up and get back to me, all these to no avail.

Please Nlanders,i need suggestions/solutions,this matter is of urgent importance to me,as i can't forfeit that money to the bank. Pls mod. help me and push this thread to the front page.

Oga mi.... You should try using the power of social media. Tag them on Twitter with proofs of your bank statement and the supposed transaction. You'll also have to tag CBN's official handle. Watch as they'd reverse your money with immediate alacrity.


There is a suggestive idea that indicates that sending CBN a direct email would also do the trick and also help you with an extra #10k compensation. ( I'm not sure about the authenticity of this though)

The issue is from Interbank settlement . Have you checked the recipient’s account weda the money is there . Mobile app is very reliable

Yes,the recipient's account was not credited even as at today,I'm still in touch with the person because i later paid in cash as they (access bank) assured me that since i have written a letter for recalling the money into my account,that the money has been logged out, so the problem now is how to get them (bank) to reverse it into my own account.

that's no big deal just tag them on twitter or send them message on Facebook that is how I did mine or just go to the nearest branch near you...chikina

I once had similar experience with Access bank. Access to Access o. Till today no payment seen.... I contacted cc several times, no solution. Na so money loss.

This is very bad! Why must a bank be behaving this way, this is the same feelers I'm getting from some people around me,who have had similar experience from Access bank. The worst part of it being that, the CC will so frustrate you until you give up.

McKay12, we learn every day. It isn't the bank's fault per se, but it is the fault of technology. There are certain machine errors that are beyond the bank....no Nigerian bank is an exception.

I have had a similar experience with First Bank. I wanted to use a POS terminal to pay for a 4k TV. The transaction was declined, but I was debited.

You see, if your money had been just 20k or below, the bank would have reversed it a long time ago, but 81k is a lot of money...

Unless you are practically asking the bank's staff to pay for what they didn't spend. And you know, they will never do it because they encounter lots of cases like yours week in, week out.

Here's the thing: You will wait for one month. I assure you that your money will never exceed a month. Your money is floating in the air...unsure where it will drop. Given that the transaction was successful, the beneficiary must receive it within 30 days.

You don't need to bother the bank until you don't see after 30 days. The Nigerian bank law says that if such money exceeds 6 months, you will sue the bank. And when you do, they can pay as high as #50 million for damages.

So, if you continue to make trouble in the bank, it won't change anything. Unless one of them decides to pay you from their account.

My 123k dropped on the 6th of January. The POS error happened on 7th December.

I learned this because I had that issue. Most times, life troubles make us learn.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best.

Thanks bro, it has actually exceeded 30 days,and the way it's going is exactly what you described here and I'm very helpless.

That's why i brought the matter here for an extensive discuss, so that i can make an informed decision on how best to recover this money. I may after all said and done, consider the legal option (sue) as you posited.
