It is estimated that malaria and typhoid kills more people in Nigeria than HIV/AIDS. The good thing is that there is a vaccine for typhoid that gives you protection against Typhiod fever for at least 5 years or more. This vaccine costs only 5k naira but surprisingly Nigerian doctors and nurses will never advise you to take this life saving vaccination and I WANT TO KNOW WHY? I believe the government should advise or even mandate every Nigerian citizen to get vaccinated against the following deadly diseases: Typhiod Fever, Yellow Fever, Hepatitis B and TB. I will talk about Hepatitis and TB in my next post. |

The typhoid vaccine doesn't guarantee immunity as compared to other vaccines and also it requires regular booster shots. A much better means of preventing typhoid is good hygiene, proper hand washing techniques and potable water. |
