To be safe I have these few tips
Keep fungicide close by and start spraying from the moment the true leaves start sprouting forget if it’s rainy season or dry season. Get the best fungicide for now I heard it’s carbriduo
Do the same thing with insecticide stop spraying insecticide when it flowers
Use mulching film
Prepare the staking poles and staking net / rope before planting not after
Get Labour that has signed a contact don’t get labour from the community especially a farming community. Again I say get labour, this is a what can ruin your investment, humans.
You can control pests with pesticide , fungi with fungicide, insects with insecticide but humanshuhhuh

I really regret using nursery , I would have planted and sprayed a certain chemical that will chase away all rodents even if it’s sniper
Cypermethrin works or so i've heard.

okoroemeka:
if you look at the precision this small rats use to detect freshly sown seeds and eat it you will agree that it's only by smell that they can sense these seeds,I am thinking if there are any foul smelling material that can be used to mix the seed before planting,I am thinking finely ground pepper, garlic, etc, can mask the seed smell long enough for the seeds to germinate
Oga Okoroemeka thank you for inspiring many people on this platform, I’m glad I met some one like you. Very open , tolerant and ready to teach, Willing to answer questions spot on, no stories, I can’t tell you how much I personally appreciate.
I however regret seeking the opinion of some audio farmers in this platform, because I listened to what he posted, I took that same advice to someone else that was also farming with Murano 2 The person did not reap much out of a 1.5m nairaland investments all because he listened to me because I listened to the audio farmer. Kai! Well Na God save me cause when I went to buy my seeds I was told to do what Oga Okoroemeka told me to do I like my other guy that felt the audio farmer knew what he was doing now he’s the wiser. The guy even blames me for telling him what to do cause it was against his plan. His farm had 9000seeds , drip irrigation, mulching film, 2 pumping machines, a ready labor and Kabul staking.

My advice for farmers here reading this please please and please don’t take anyone serious on this platform that says you should send an email, that doesn’t have his contact information public that never post pictures or videos of their farm. Please I beg you. There are some sick people on nairaland you can spot them by going through their post, avoid them.

I thank God our one acre farm is doing very well and audio Tobass (I hope I got the spelling right) will wait forever to see us fail.

Cucmber is very profitable , you don’t need history lessons to plant don’t listen to fear mongers and naysayers.

Ps I’m ready to blast any audiofarmer on this thread. I’m ready b

Pistotita:
If I write all the problems you have created for yourself, you will say I dont write direct answers.

Here are my direct answers since you do not want to listen. But I do not want you to confuse other newbies.

1. Use only murano for a well staked farm
2. Use only marketer for an unstaked farm
3. Never combine both. You learned combination of cultivars from my post and I gave you reasons they are both not good. If you like go ahead stubbornly. You will meet the adverse effects there.
4. Those wishing you goodluck and God's intervention are telling you politely to downsize. Oga, downsize to max of 3 plots if you are using drip irrigation.
5. If you are not using drip irrigation, downsize to 1 plot.

I have given you direct answers above. Now, I can say goodluck and may God assist you.

Because I listened to him and advised d someone based on his advice, the fellow lost a whole farm and you call this e bullying. For Gods sake I mentioned what the man told me to do and right now I’m running to save my farm. I didn’t mention his name I mentioned the post he made on my thread. I blame myself. Do you know what it feels like planting 10000 seeds and getting only two bags because you decided not to interplant with marketer or cu999

Cu999 is a good cucumber variety, ... so is Murano f1, I've never planted cucumber.. but I've seen others who have.. and they can testify murano is a good cultivar.. are you sure the person you recommended isnt lacking in hes fertiliser practice?? There are other factors that could have lead to the poor output.. there are other farmers in this forum that can testify about this very cultivar..

Besides I see no reason why you quoted pistotita.. your message would've been well received without a quote.. again.. this is e.bullying

again I think you’re this guys sidekick. I mentioned his solution and I advised someone to do the same and dude lost his farm. He said and I quote don’t mix Murano with marketer you’ll regret it. Well we regret listening to that advice there were no male flowers to pollinate the whole farm 2 bags fromf the first Harvest. Look I’m not here to rub anyone’s ego. I’m a straight shooter the guy mislead me and through him I mislead someone else. Any one that takes an advice form an audio farmer is at his own peril. For my farm I planted marketer somewhere else now I’m looking at how to transplant it to be with the Murano. I’ll praise Okoroemeka till tomorrow the man Na real man and a good man.

Lastly I don’t care if this thread is derailed I must mention his post at least when investors search the web they’ll know that someone isn’t pleased and thinks he’s not real. As for you believe him all you like... do you.... I came here to gain knowledge on cucumber farming and I’ll pitch my tent with Okoroemeka and Whiz2019... my advice to upcoming farmers or investors please I beg you in the name of God Go and inspect the persons farm and make sure he’s the owner, people are hungry in this country and want a way out even if it is using your hard earned money for practical. I don talk my own.

He does not like mentioning brands and seeds. And I think he is right about it. Murano has been used by many without any complain, and no one mixes it. He advised you based on the way it flowers. I have used murano many times and female flowers comes out very well at first, but gradually, male flowers start coming out. He told you it is female predominated, but with enough male to pollinate. And by second to third harvest, male flowers start coming out more. They come out more when temperature is above 30C. But from my observation, murano's standard has dropped. Many who enjoyed it are dumping it. It is not about flowering pattern, but disease resistance. If you are a farmer, you will know what he told you is correct and the right way to do it. You need to be careful. You are just starting and already advising like you are an expert.
Lol,.. bros let matter rest sad sad see that's why I decided not to give any response.. sometimes when you try too hard they'll think you're a sidekick or you're getting paid to defend that person.... even veggiesgrow recommends murano.... they're other factors that can also lead to poor output.. but it seems like hes bent on pointing fingers at pistotita.. the guy already said hes had enough and hes leaving nairaland

Okoroemeka advised that I mixed it with marketer of cu999 so you’re wrong.
The man told me not to mix it with marketer or cu999 that’s why I’m calling him out.

@Lofarm, keep it up and make it work. Don't be discouraged. I dont know much on whether to combine murano and other cuke varieties but the link below recommends it for proper fertilization. I'll like other experienced farmers shud come in on this.

Are you serious? You keep exposing yourself. Cu999 is monoecious, so also marketer. There is nothing to cross pollinate. You better use google. I advise you to apologize to pisto before it is too late for you. Even you do not know chemicals with that cabdiduo nonsense ypu posted. If pisto gives you chemical, you will pray for him. Chemicals you have not heard of. And the thing was that with the way he replied in those posts, he took interest in you. Assuming you quickly pmed him, your life will not be same. You messed up yourself big time. Am sure downy mildew finished that your friend's farm. Why don't you post the pic here and lets see. When that disease nearly finished me, 1 and half bags harvest when i supposed to have 25 for my first harvest, i ran to him. Like magic, the disease cleared off. I will never be shy to say good about him. Pisto for life for me as long as it comes to veggie. He is a savior. If you like abuse me. Let him give you recipe for treating seeds to get 99.9999% germination rate. Ask anyone who has received seeds from him how viable they are. Keep abusing him and you will keep losing.
I really don’t understand what’s wrong with most people here on nairaland did you take your time to read. For Christ sake read the first mention I made yesterday where he said don’t cross pollinate Murano with marketer. God! Read sir it won’t kill you secondly look at the picture below that’s my farm does it look like a downy mildew ingested farm even when I’m using sprinklers.
I called Oga Okoroemeka to ask about carbriduo and he said that alone is good on its own but initially told me to get ridomil gold copper. Oga you don’t know me or know my farm and I didn’t ask you to come here and be all and light for your friend and sincerely I don’t care your opinion and I don’t expect you to care about my opinion about the man. He gave me a flawed advice and I took it. Then mention is there take your time to read before commenting again it won’t kill you.

Moreover the clown told me to downsize to one plot if I’m not usin drip and downsize to 3 plots if I’m using drip. Last last I covered 70 lines of 40meters each and I’m just starting. You shouldn’t judge people based on your pocket or your guts or your capacity, some people just have the will and Gods backing that they can’t foil up or cower into uncertainty. The same guy said I failed , Lfmao smh he doesn’t even know me and all the way from where he is already summed up my future, Ah aha !

Liftitupo:
You are the one something is wrong with. Keep calling okoroemeka like you are blind to see that his farm was killed with downy mildew. You are sick upstairs. Pisto is right. I do not care about your opinion too. I just need all investors you are calling to see that you are a real idioot and ungrateful like pisto said. Craaaazy man, you do not cross murano with marketer. He is right, you are fooolishly wrong which tells me you are a real asshoollle. Craaaazy man, go and learn cucumber flowering pattern. You are a real idiiiot.
