MY PRAISE IS UPGRADED!
AFTER 15 MONTHS & 15 DAYS!!
DELAY IS NOT DENIAL!!!

(Warning: Long Post)

I’ve been a silent reader for the past 6 months. I discovered this forum towards the tail end of my journey (I hoped). I had a lot of false starts. In 2009 while finishing up NYSC, a friend told me of his preparations to move his family to Canada, another said he was applying to universities in Canada for his Masters degree. I already had admission to a UK university for my Masters and I didn’t want to do the wahala of studying for one English exam like that when I have been speaking English my whole life. Besides, I had done my school, College and Bachelors degree in the UK, and more importantly at the time, I had friends there. The plan was always to come back to Nigeria, do NYSC then go back to England. Strike 1.

Fast forward to the end of my UK Post Study VISA in 2014, I came back to Nigeria and my mother told me about her friend who had an agency that helped people migrate to Canada. I had a good job, living in Lagos, starting my business and I’m finally back among family. Strike 2.

In 2016 at my mother’s insistence (blessings of Abraham on that woman), my brother and I went to see her friend agent who told us about Canada EE program. We were told to do IELTS and to aim for at least 7 points and to bring 150k so he can help us file our applications. So we said okay, let’s start gathering money for IELTS. While in the process of doing that, a brother from another mother also moved he and his family to Canada. Buhari came into power and fuel scarcity gave us petrol at 1k per litre. Now Canada was looking like serious matter.

Wrote IELTS in April 2017 (first attempt) LRWS: 8.5, 7.5, 7, 8. Overall band = 8. ‘Thank God, first hurdle passed’, was what I thought. Little did I know that I was just getting started. I didn’t prepare for the listening and speaking but I did practice for the reading and writing. I met someone in the same year and things were getting serious, or so I thought and he was not interested in sitting for one English exam like that. Let nobody come and say I have priding so I put Canada to one side yet again and put marriage forward. Strike 3.

Then came a blessing of a bun in the oven. I knew I had to get serious and lay down some concrete future plans.

I verified my Bachelors and Masters degree with WES and got my ECA back in August 2018. Medicals was done at The Consultant’s Practice in September 2018 and I submitted by application in for EE.

WES Account created: 30th October 2016 (Yes o, no mistake)
IELTS: 20 April 2017
Degrees submitted: 02 July 2018
ECA Completed: 20 August 2018

Then the wait began... DECEMBER 2018
And wait... JANUARY 2019
Wait... FEBRUARY 2019
MARCH 2019 - I had a beautiful baby girl (I had informed Medicals of my pregnancy during my examination)
APRIL 2019 - Raised CSE via web form advising IRCC of my new status. I was advised that I needed her birth certificate and to email Ottawa VO directly once I had the certificate. Hospital said I had to wait 6 weeks for certificate. Informed Ottawa VO of the mandatory 6 weeks wait.
13 MAY 2019 - Emailed birth certificate to Ottawa VO.
15 MAY 2019 - IRCC update my profile with Child Add On kit and requested her passport.

Come and see race to passport office, filled forms and then I was asked to go and bring her father. I informed the officer that we are no longer together besides, I have included his letter of consent and mine as well as data pages of both our passports with the application. Customs officer then said I should go and sign affidavit in high court swearing to that fact which I did immediately. Came back and he said he still wasn’t convinced, that the child’s father should send another letter because he didn’t believe that the first letter was an original one. I came back with another letter, he asked if he could call the child’s father to which I replied, ‘of course ‘. Last last he sha signed, then the next drama. We were told to come back 2 weeks later for the passport. On getting to passport office after 2 weeks, we were told their printer broke and the guy that is meant to be fixing it was not around and we should come back a week later. The week later, we were told that they were out of booklets and to come back again next week. All this while the 30 days that Canada gave me to add my child is counting down. I uploaded the completed forms and paid the fee. Raised CSE via web form advising that passport is not yet available. We finally got the passport with a day to spare and I uploaded the information required to my profile and paid the fee.

11 JUNE 2019 - Paid $150CAD dependant application fee
02 JULY 2019 - Raised CSE and sent passport page to IRCC
22 JULY 2019 - Raised CSE because profile was updated and medical was requested for dependant but no medical form was provided in my messages
2 AUGUST 2019 - Still no medical form so Raised CSE again
26th AUGUST 2019 - Dependant medical completed. Raised CSE to send proof to IRCC
10 SEPTEMBER 2019 - Raised CSE requesting update and received a generic reply
13 SEPTEMBER 2019 - Raised CSE informing IRCC that my child’s father and I are no longer in a relationship. I included a notarised declaration (IMM 5604 E) the father (non accompanying parent) permitting me to apply for PR as well as travel with child.
14 SEPTEMBER 2019 - Requested GCMS notes from GETGCMS
20 SEPTEMBER 2019 - Medical should have expired for me.
4 OCTOBER 2019 - Ghost update
8 OCTOBER 2019 - Medical updated to ‘Not required’
10 OCTOBER 2019 - IRCC requested another up to 90 days to provide GCMS
11 OCTOBER 2019 - I finally caved in and emailed Ralph requesting status, no response.
15 OCTOBER 2019 - Emailed Ralph at another email address
Response Received same day
Criminality passed.
Eligibility requires review.
Security checks have not been initiated. They cannot be expedited and timelines are not available.
Medicals are expired – no action required at this time.
VO: Ottawa

05 November 2019 - Raised CSE to send POF for 2 (I didn’t know to send when I added my dependant)
07 November 2019 - Progress bar has disappeared and I can no longer log into On-Line Services at services3.cic.gc.ca.
21 November 2019 - Emailed Ottawa VO requesting status update.
22 November 2019 - Called IRCC and was told file is being reviewed
25 November 2019 - Ottawa VO replied that file currently in review and additional verification is required.

31 December 2019 - Remedical request. I booked an appointment with IOM after the holiday
21 January 2020 - Remedical passed

Passport Request (PPR): 22 January 2020
Passport Submission: 27 January 2020
Awaiting Passport Collection: Estimated 30 days

FAQs
1. Why didn’t I request for GCMS notes earlier? I didn’t even know I could.
2. Why did I send affidavit and declaration form? I read on this platform about two different cases of people travelling with children as a single parent and decided to follow their advice. I also know Border Agents are very particular about children that are travelling with one parent because of child traffickers.
3. How did I call IRCC? You can call Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in Toronto Pearson airport
Terminal 1: (905) 676-3640
Terminal 3: (905) 612-5416
Skype works! All you have to do is to choose the second option (refer to IRCC customer support) then you will find yourself directed to the IRCC menu itself.

Pof
My mom came through for me. It was difficult as it was at that week my brother got his visa for masters and she had to get him ready to travel. But she came through anyway. 100% pof from my mom. I prepared the deed of gift and sworn affidavit as a lawyer grin[sub][/sub] Also attached the transfer receipt, bank 6 months statement ( highlighting the transfer, salary payment at my current work), I attached a bank letter, my birth certificate showing my mom's name there as my mother and also a loe explaining anything that looked unclear.

Really happy for your testimonies, but you guys should give us an estimate on how much is on your account, must it be above the required amount or little or anything that can help others like us prepare our DOC/POF when is time, because we all know finance is very much pivotal part of this whole process.. Please.

(3) Which body is best for LL.B , BL Education evaluation. Is it WES, IQAS or ICES.
Thank you.

Hi, I'm not a law grad, but I've read here severally that Iqas is best for its evaluation, they'd evaluate it as a professional degree, equivalent of a master's. But it takes about six months or more

Can anyone please advise me? I am filling out my ITA, and I indicated that I have sibling in Canada. But he doesn't maintain an address there already as he's away in another country completing his PhD. He's been to Canada to pick up his PR card anyway.
Items required of me to as proof are:
1. proof of PR
2. proof of residency in Canada
3. proof of sibling relationship.

I can sort out 1 and 3 easily. But the challenge now is about 2- proof of residency in Canada. He's suggesting we try using the attached file- a doc showing address of his friend where he stayed briefly and his PR was sent to.

Do you think this is sufficient? If not, what alternatives do I have?

This could end up in misrepresentation and a ban. They have ways of checking if he is really resident in canada and if they find out he's not and you claimed he is...

Quoting from their site , acceptable proof of residency : "... a residential lease, mortgage documents, utility bills, etc.). "

Someone posted some pages back a grid showing the amount required depending on single applicants or families. This is also available on the IRCC website. Amount is in CAD, just convert to naira using the day's rate.
Note that this does not include IELTS, credentials evaluation, medicals, PCC, RPRF, PR and biometrics fees

Hello. Please I have a sibling who got her PR last year and just moved to Canada a week ago. She is however not yet able to provide the necessary documents for me to claim sibling point which is fine as my score is way higher than the cut off score. I didn’t claim points for it when I created my profile, however I’m planning to apply in two weeks. is it okay for me to click no to having a sibling in Canada? Or should I click yes and attach a letter of explanation that I do not I fact want to claim points for it.

To claim sibling points, he has to currently live in Canada. Unfortunately, they will find out if he isn't.
PS: Please edit your post and delete the document attached. For your own sake.

anada now operates more than 80 economic class immigration programs—the most in its history
In 2020, Canada will welcome nearly 200,000 economic class immigrants through over 80 programs. Even if they do not meet recent Express Entry cut-off scores, there are several important reasons why candidates should still apply for immigration to Canada.

Economic Class ProgramsPour lire cet article en français, cliquez ici.

Since May 2019, candidates under Canada’s Express Entry system have tended to need a Comprehensive Ranking Score above 460 points to obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. In recent months, this has climbed even further to around 470 or higher.

Up until then, the Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) cut-offs hovered between 430 and 450 points for the better part of two years. The higher CRS cut-off is due to the fact that more candidates are receiving additional CRS points for criteria such as having Canadian experience (as former international students and temporary foreign workers) and obtaining a provincial nomination certificate.

Despite the higher cut-offs, there are four reasons why those interested in building a life in Canada should enter the Express Entry pool even if they currently do not have a CRS above 460.

Four reasons candidates should submit an Express Entry application even if they don’t meet the current CRS cut-off
First, it is not possible to predict CRS cut-offs. By submitting an Express Entry application candidates give themselves a chance to receive an ITA in the event that the federal government reduces the CRS cut-off.

Second, through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), provinces and territories can nominate immigration candidates who have submitted Express Entry applications (known as “enhanced” nominations). In practice, this means that candidates who fall short of the federal CRS cut-off may still obtain an ITA for permanent residence if they meet the selection criteria of a province or territory.

Third, candidates can work on improving their CRS score after they submit their Express Entry application. They can take steps to improve their English and/or French language proficiency, obtain more work experience, pursue education or work experience in Canada, and seek to obtain a Canadian job offer or provincial nomination.

Fourth, immigration candidates should look beyond Express Entry by taking note of the fact that Canada now offers more economic class immigration pathways than at any time in its history. Express Entry is an important component of Canada’s immigration system, accounting for 42 per cent of the country’s economic class admissions.

On the other hand, Express Entry only manages three of the country’s economic class pathways: The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class Program.

This means that more than 80 additional economic class pathways are available to those interested in moving to Canada.

Find out if you are eligible for any Canadian immigration programs

Why Canada has over 80 economic class pathways
Prior to the launch of the PNP in 1999, the federal government selected approximately 90 per cent of Canada’s economic class immigrants each year.

The majority of immigrants arrived under the Federal Skilled Worker Program that has existed since 1967, while the rest arrived under the federal Entrepreneur Program (introduced in 1978 and closed in 2014), the federal Self-Employed Program (introduced in 1978) and the federal Immigrant Investor Program (introduced in 1986 and closed in 2014).

The remaining 10 per cent of Canada’s economic class immigrants were selected by Quebec, through the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, and the province’s own entrepreneur, self-employed, and investor programs—all four of which were launched in the 1970s and 1980s and exist to this day.

In the late 1990s, smaller Canadian provinces began to select (“nominate”) economic class immigrants through the PNP.

The PNP was introduced because smaller provinces had struggled historically to attract immigrants under federal economic class programs. Their low immigrant intakes hurt their ability to promote economic development due to low birth rates, their ageing populations, and the high rates of people from their province moving to larger provinces where they could find more economic opportunities.

The PNP has been effective in encouraging more immigrants to go to Canada’s smaller provinces and territories. Today, each province and territory operates its own PNP streams (except for the territory of Nunavut, which chooses not to manage the PNP, and the province of Quebec which has operated its own immigration system since 1978 because of its special status within Canada).

A key sign of the PNP’s success is that the national newcomer shares of Canada’s three largest provinces—Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia—has fallen from 85 per cent prior to the PNP’s existence to about 70 per cent today.

How the 80+ programs benefit prospective immigrants to Canada
The federal government and every province and territory have gone a major step forward since the late 1990s by introducing dozens of additional economic class pathways, thereby giving prospective immigration candidates many more choices.

The federal government has since introduced the Federal Skilled Trades Program, the Canadian Experience Class Program, as well as a host of pilot programs such as the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.

The provinces and territories have themselves launched many unique streams with the same rationale as the federal government: by operating dozens of different pathways, Canada will cater to a bigger pool of potential immigrants who can bring a variety of skills that contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

This underscores the fact that the broad selection criteria of Canada’s various economic class programs create many opportunities for immigration candidates, as long as they meet the general parameters of federal and provincial age, education, language proficiency and work experience requirements.

Candidates should feel encouraged about applying for Canadian immigration
In 2020, Canada is looking to welcome 110,000 economic class immigrants through its more than 80 programs, plus an additional 86,000 through its three Express Entry programs.

This is all to say, candidates should actually feel more encouraged about applying for immigration to Canada.

As others have said , there is no way round this that wont result in refusal and possibly a ban.

Is your brother planning on moving back anytime soon? Maybe during the summer break where he'll be actually residing in Canada?

So u have gotten ITA twice and u havent done IELTS and ECA. What are u even doing in the pool?
How did u get an ECA number and IELTS number?
I have once said it here alot are in the pool with assumed ECA n IELTS, we are the ones responsible for the inflation of the crs scores not the PNPs because definitely alot will be in the pool with assumed results.

Yes ITA is the same Ma/sir

Is ITA the same thing with when you are given 60days to make your documents complete on your FSW profile? Thanks House in advance.

Ndi mmadu self..

Nawa o. Devil is a liar. Though,I was told to wait again till August 2020. Hope am still qualified to be on the pool?
