I was supposed to travel to China next week for a business trip. I have already booked flight.

At this moment I am contemplating my decision. I am just confused.

Please can a good thread enlightening people on the new mysterious Wuhan coronavirus be placed on frontpage for several weeks.

The deadly virus is now in nearby Cote d'Ivoire.


Several Chinese travelled home for the Chinese New Year and will soon be back in the country. I don't think much is being done by the government to prepare for a probable outbreak. I'm not sure we have a ministry of health anymore. The country is in a sorry state.

But wait oh nobody has bothered to ask where this new virus came from, certainly not from space. Probably a testing phase of some new biological weapons. Who knows if the CIA is involved cos those guys are not smiling.
Some of these recent outbreak of viruses might be as a result of biological mutations gone wrong in the lab or they are just using humans as unwilling guinea pigs to test the effects of their newly created virus. The CIA has been known to do such in the past so who knows.

Poor China getting the Africa dehumanising treatment just because of displeasing America dominated West. Do you guys realise that 80,000 people died of flu last winter in U.S? and that Seasonal flu kills 291,000 to 646,000 people worldwide each year? Conversely coronavirus outbreak death toll in Hubei province, China, where the outbreak began, has risen to 130, mostly elderly people.

Just saying while precautions are welcomed, let us be measured and not join in a looming hysteria against the Chinese that may owe more to politics than medical fears of a pandemic. Incidentally, how is it that, India beloved by the British and the West, to my knowledge, has never been the origin of scare-story pandemics or actual scarily contagious dieses the way Africa and China often are? India has always had the right conditions of population, porverty and filth more than Africa and China.

America has never been there for Nigeria the way China has. In fact, Nigeria was there for America during the 70’s when Middle east oil embargo nearly destroyed their economy. Sure China’s assistance to Nigeria isn’t altruistic but they are on the ground, some of their people even struggle on the streets with Nigerians. Let's not join in their humiliation.

No movement allowed, no taxi allowed to shuttle the city, private cars are not allowed to move, no flight in or out the city, trains too are not allowed. There’s no way you can leave the city. Getting groceries is super difficult. All the malls are closed, same with most shops
