This might be costly to do, but in these kinds of land where other fence foundations are collapsing all around us, we have to be proactive.

We bought more materials needed to mount the gate and fence rails yesterday at Eke Awka.

All around this estate, other people are starting to rebuild their fences after it collapsed. They are now doing retaining walls before the fence.

From the pictures, seem like the land is on a slope.

Firstly, the land is on a slope, making it easy for flood water to move quickly and accumulate at fence points, then push down the fence if there are no leeways provided.

Secondly, the land has soft muddy soil. The settlement pattern is usually such that it cracks the foundation if not reinforced. I have had to pull down the back fence we met on the site because it was bent outwards when we started work and a risk to others.

Let's now hang the gate of the property. .......

Yes, the height of the gate is because my client wants to sandfill the compound after a high foundation. Work still going on here today.

We have cast the concrete for the gate columns........

I also provided weep holes from where water can run off if there's an accumulation from the flood waters which can run from the hilly parts of this area.

We have now stood the third gate pillar and hung the side gate. We have also mounted the fence panels , we have still got some remnants of our materials on site.

My biggest regret is not being able to stay at a site to do things exactly as I want due to:

1). Weather.
2) security challenges.

Port-Harcourt is even worse....can't have armed MoPol at a site because you want to build something. Nigeria is jacked up.

At an estate near Udoka estates. Land here costs about 12m for a plot .
