Ban On Motorcycles And Tricycles: A Good Move? by Nobody: 12:20pm On Feb 01, 2020
I will like to start with my opinion on this: I think it's a very bad move!

These mode of transportation have been an enormous help to citizens in lagos, both passengers and drivers. Which for drivers, it's their means of livelihoods. Not to talk about those agberos, petty thieves, and hijackers who have settled with using keke to feed so as to stay away from crime.

I find it hard to see the motive of the government with this particular ban, because without an alternative provided to these people, how do you expect them to carry on with their lives? It makes no sense in whatever angle you want to look at it from. Absolutely no sense.

Yes there have been cases of accidents, which have also happened with cars and buses. There have been defaults from these guys, which I think can be addressed in a proper way. But an outright ban? I don't know what to make of it.

Look at me na, on suit while trekking in this sun. Lagos, a reversal of this ban should not only be imminent, it should be immediate!

It's a good move but the timing is bad, alternatives should have been provided before going ahead to ban.

Lagos should begin with the banning of things like this because it is long overdue.

You all are crying that Lagos is not meeting up with the status as a city but are not ready to make sacrifices for it. We asked for a proper city and now moves are being made but our sentimental nature will always project beyond logic.

Have you seen things like this in major cities around the world?

The operators should move to neighbouring states and others.
By the way, no matter the level of water, the frog will always find a way to jump.

If there's no alternative and the timing is bad then it's a bad move

It's a bad move. What status does lagos want to live up to? Hasn't Okada and keke been part of what has built it up to this level?

Those men in fact pay more tax than us in suit

There are legitimate concerns especially from a security point of view, one of the biggest headache then and now are crimes carried out with the use of okadas.
You will be shocked at the number of robberies with okada recorded daily but banning without alternatives won't help much.
Personally I think keke should have been allowed.

But you know, banning these guys could make crime increase in other forms. This move is not only bad, it's dangerous. It's liken to the famous cobra effect

Truly, this was the alternative I meant ala providing engaging alternative.
Unfortunately the state government in all objectivity can provide those means.
