You did nothing wrong , but your profile makes you as a suspect for a visa overstayer . Even if you have married with kids , unless you are very old or extremely wealthy in Nigeria , the chances of overstaying your visa are very high in their eyes. Plus Maryland is not really a vacation spot, it has huge nigerian population with lots of visa overstayers.

Where are you applying from?
If the US, I hope you know that overstaying/abusing your tourist visa would subsequently flag your family’s application and chances of acquiring a US visa?

Yes it nothing personal at all, there are so many many people from different countries who trying to immigrate to the US so they are not targeting Nigerians alone. But Nigerians do abuse the visa a lot , I see that myself as I live here. It all about numbers . They actually just granted an amnesty bill granting green cards to Liberian nationals who have been living in the US since November 2014. Yep try your luck somewhere else some many better places than the US. I live here and prefer to vacation outside of the country.

This is a positive thinking. To achieve great things in life depends of how great the person is, it can be done in any country.
