I was wondering.... This is double taxation. For crying out loud, we have paid for VAT when we buy airtime or data. So why is FG taxing us again on calls and data? We didnt sign for this. angry

Exactly my thought... The VAT has been paid for when buy recharge card, which we didn't complain of, why are they charge vat on call making again?

Nigeria is in deep mess!

We didn't pay for VAT when we bought airtime. They gave you airtime worth the amount you paid. So they will take their VAT through call charges. There's no double taxation anything
Are you just being sarcastic or serious? check the card before you load. you would know they already charged you when you bought the card.

This was one of the resolutions reached with the finance minister last year on the 2019 financial bill to address the tax to GDP ratio of the fed govt. Its like the national assembly had passed the bill. This funds will eventually be transferred to the gvt treasury, for user said he was charged N4.10 after sending an SMS which normally costs just N4.This means the 7.5% VAT will henceforth apply to every outgoing call and SMS. The same applies every time someone purchases a data plan. Now, the interesting thing is that the longer the call, the more VAT one pays.
This seems sad most especially that most of this funds may go down the drain instead of using it for infrastructures.
