You import all the important parts from Europe. That's how.
Both the Rooivalk and Oryx were developed at a time when South Africa was heavily sanctioned.....

Why would it be any different now considering Denel still builds all the parts needed to maintain and overhaul our Oryx and Rooivalk fleets

Nigeria's air force procurement makes sense. When we consider the funds available and what has been purchased, it shows air force planners understand what they are doing. Training and Offensive capabilities have been good.

The Super Tucano is the best low intensity warfare aircraft available in the market. The weapons package coming along with it is also great. The ISR capabilities of the aircraft also makes it stand out.

12 MI-35M helicopters is also good.

The A109K purchase also makes sense.

The MI-17, I was hoping we would get a minimum of 6 units. 2 units won't go any where.

On the JF-17, if we look at how the world is going, it is a late purchase, very late intact.

I will say that we take the 3 units and hold on, while we wait for the block 3 to come on stream.

We need an aircraft that can pose a threat to the Rafale fighter jet. Only the JF-17 block 3 is good enough to do that.
Honestly, JF 17 Block III will struggle against Rafale. Best to invest in modern highly mobile SAMs to the extent of having capability to move them by heavy choppers for quick set up inside undefended enemy territory
If Cameroon or Niger starts to misbehave, we cant take on France in the air but 3 MI 171s can fly a battery of BUK, Akash, S-300 or S-400 anywhere in W.Africa. As long as there are technicians to errect and calibrate quickly.

For those of us who really know, Super Tucanoes would be the breakthrough capability in internal security.
Also it will be a cheap workhorse ISR/precision strike platform in one package.

The JF 17 is for regional power projection BUT it will fly too high, too fast and too blind to be useful against Boko Haram or bandits
a true regional power projector would be the SU30 and the SU34
if Uganda could get the 30, i wonder why we are not thinking along the same line

considering our budget we don't want to have jets rotting away in our airfield. How many su30 is Uganda still able to maintain and fly.....

Why did I say the Block III JF-17 would be better to counter the Rafale? If we look at the recent air war India and Pakistan had, you will see that it was tactics that won the skirmish for Pakistan. This is despite the fact that India has a far superior air force than Pakistan.

Pakistan flew into India, this is despite the fact that India has better air defence than any country in south east Asia.

The JF-17 Block III may not be able to match the Rafael in raw performance, but the Block III has a better radar. You also have advanced Chinese AAM which are comparable to the meteor missile.

So that's why the JF-17 Block III is the best bet within a budget we have to counter the Rafale.

How can you make such claims without a shred of evidence?

Secondly, the Jf17 is integrated with Arguably the most advanced short to mid range AAM currently on the market.... But it's not Chinese wink.....its from that country in the South of Africa you don't like that much.

Why is the proof that your low quality missile is integrated in the JF-17?

If everybody agrees on something, there won't be any need for elections. grin grin grin

I know , it's just fun which it should be as real life is tough as it is, with no respite for the good people.

2nd part yes to a certain degree , yes

Just for the sake of conversation

Ants are highly organised living beings , their efficiency is unparalleled , humans cannot even come close . They don't have any options for elections , choice etc. They all have designated roles for maximum efficiency as a species.

Humans have the luxury of chaos , anarchy and so called freedom ( which for the common people all over the world is meaningless anyways ) because we don't have external threats other than ourselves.

What if a higher intelligent and powerful beings existed ? Would we have the luxury of the above like freedom , elections etc then. Food for thought.

Anyways I am pleasantly surprised to see this side of yours. Totally unrecognisable from the older kabe.

Did you get married or what ? grin
