IgbereTV reports that former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has denied that his boss ever stole money from Nigeria. Major Mustapha made this known in Lagos while speaking to journalists on his 15 years experience in prison. He explained that late General Abacha had several attacks from people he stepped on during his administration. It was these people who declared late General Abacha an enemy and decided to give Abacha a bad image, even till today. He said that it got to a time where Nigeria was threatened with foreign sanctions. The late General Abacha called a meeting of key stakeholders in Nigeria in which Abacha with them took the decision to keep money in foreign accounts in order to salvage Nigeria from the effect of the sanction. He said that a lot of these stakeholders are still alive today and relevant in Nigeria. Even money that belongs to your Town's Development Union, do you have to keep in personal accounts? We already know what all these people take Nigerians for. Someone else that we know has said it earlier - Abacha never stole! Should we then start to pray that all these leaders die shortly before they hand over, so that we can recoup the country's money? At least Abacha is benefiting Nigeria more than all the military guys and civilians that have drained Nigeria's treasury without refund, and we still call them elder statesmen. 2 Likes |

This is another side of the story. Abacha's enemies (majorly OBJ) are responsible for this negative media coverage. the question is, which among the past head of state is not guilty of what they accuse abacha of? These are lies from the pit of hell. How can you say you are trying to evade sanctions by loading millions of dollars into the account of your son? Truth is he saw what was coming and quickly set his family up with enough money. Abacha family even refused to cooperate by releasing the funds back to the federal government. In fact they still hid over a billion dollars which was smoked out. Let's not further taint our already tarnished image as a country that supports corruption. |
