kodded:Basically, or a 4-3-3 variation. That's what he learnt from Pep. Meanwhile, we have two consecutive home games to give some respect to our league position. These are must wins before Arteta faces his master on March 1. |

kodded:I don't think that the choice of Pape Gueye has to do with the 4-2-3-1 formation though. It's about the quality of the player and what he can deliver on the field of play Because a guy being compared with Kante and Pogba indicates that he should be able to feature and blend well in any of 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 if you would agree with me |

Six Arsenal players to be axed to fund £150m summer spree Arsenal will look at shifting on no fewer than six players in the summer in order to raise approximately £150 million to allow Mikel Arteta to undertake a squad overhaul. The Gunners have experienced a turbulent 2019-20 campaign, with former boss Unai Emery replaced by fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta in late December. While that decision appears to have quelled the discontent among some sections of the Emirates fanbase, results on the field have produced little improvement. The Gunners have won just one match from their eight league encounters since Arteta’s arrival, with that solo victory coming at home to Manchester United via a two-nil scoreline. Many foresee the Gunners’ squad undergoing major surgery in the summer, but the question remains of how Arsenal will raise the funds to finance such a large overhaul. Now, a report from online publication Football London has outlined the six Arsenal stars that are likely to be axed to provide Arteta with the necessary funds. Centre-halves Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi are touted as two probable departures, with the arrival of William Saliba and potential permanent transfer of Pablo Mari expected to render the former duo surplus to requirements. With Kieran Tierney and the emerging Bukayo Saka on the books, Football London state a sale for Bosnian Saed Kolasinac would ‘not be surprising in the slightest.’ Midfielders Mohamed Elneny and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are currently both out on loan, indicating their departures could be sanctioned if suitors can be found, but the bulk of the funds would be raised by the controversial sale of star centre-forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon superstar has been a shining light for the Gunners in recent times, but with just 18 months remaining on his current deal and no extension in sight, a sale remains a possibility with Barcelona noted admirers. Gunners Head of Football Raul Sanllehi has ‘previously warned that players will not be allowed to leave the club for free,’ in the manner of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey. The article states that ‘it looks likely that the Gunners will cash in on their prized asset to fund a replacement, rather than lose him for nothing.’ The exits of all six would provide a combined figure of around ‘£148.87million’ based on current valuations.

Kbs468:If Auba must go, then he should go for better money ó. We should get at least over 70 million for him based on being last season’s highest goalscorer and one of the leading goalscorers this season. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 7:57pm On Feb 12, 2020 |
kodded:You should understand if a player wants to go, you can't hold him against his wish. I love Auba. He's like our best performing senior player both even under mr Good ebening. He's been doing his job deligently as required of him, but of recent he's been giving some not so good vibes. More like the kinda vibes Sanchez gave towards the end of his last season at the club. If Auba makes up his mind to go, we don't have a choice but to sell.....except of course we want him to leave on a free transfer when we would be getting £0illion pounds for him.( Which of course is not advisable) Auba has not played in the champions league for two seasons now. For a player of his caliber he he sure deserves to be playing champions league. So if he decides to reason along this line, we have no choice but to cash in on him. Hence why I said we should price him really high and sell to the highest bidder. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by kodded(m): 8:38pm On Feb 12, 2020 |
BlueRayDick:yes, I understand the Aubuameyang situation, but what I actually mean was that a serious manager should not put all his hope on a striker like lacazette. Wheather Abua stays or not, a player like lacazette should be offloaded because his output is not worth the amount the club is paying him. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 8:50pm On Feb 12, 2020 |
kodded:I get u. It's obvious if Auba leaves we will definitely get a top 9 for replacement. If u read that article, the reason why 6 players may be axed is for us to afford a summer spending spree that will see Arteta buying his choice players. Arteta thus far has shown he's not Wenger. He will point to the players he is interested in and have the club buy them. He's not interested in helping the club manage the books and all those nonesense Wenger was doing driving us trophyless. Arteta seems to be in the mould of pep. Get his own players and have them play his preferred pattern. So I'm sure selling Auba will not mean solely relying on Lacazzette and promoting one or two youth players to deputize him. He will surely get a senior player to rival him in that position upfront |

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka could become 8th player to swap Gunners for Man Utd Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka has been linked with a switch to Manchester United and he wouldn’t be the first to head to Old Trafford from north London Manchester United are believed to be interested in making a move for Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. If successful, it would be the eighth time that a player has made the switch from north London to Old Trafford with Saka potentially following the same path as the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Robin van Persie and even George Graham. Saka is into the last 18 months of his current deal at the Emirates with Arsenal keen to keep the 18-year-old at the club. But Manchester United have been linked with Saka, who has caught the eye with a number of impressive displays during the current campaign. The winger, who can also play full-back, has made 15 Premier League appearances this season while also impressing in the Europa League. It’s perhaps no surprise that United are interested in the rising talent, but Saka would not be the first Arsenal player to move to Old Trafford. The last to make the move was Sanchez two years ago. Sanchez had impressed at the Emirates but struggled at United and was sent on loan to Inter Milan in the summer. Before Sanchez, it was Van Persie that made the switch with the Dutchman winning the Premier League in his first season at United. Van Persie was the first to swap north London for Old Trafford for 25 years with Viv Anderson having previously made the move. Anderson was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first signing as United manager and the former defender recently said: “I would never have left Arsenal had I not been offered a contract by Manchester United. “I was offered a contract extension by George Graham at Arsenal and the case went to a tribunal and Manchester United paid £250,000.” Frank Stapleton had left Highbury for Old Trafford in 1981 while Graham moved for £120,000 to Manchester United in December 1972. Ian Ure was the only major signing made by United manager Wilf McGuinness in 1969, spending two seasons with the club before returning to Scotland to play for St Mirren. The first to make the switch was David Herd back in 1961 with the forward being part of the squad that won the European Cup in 1968, leaving Old Trafford just two months later. 'He's got everything': Ferguson claims 23-goal hitman linked with Arsenal 'walks into top-six side' Celtic hitman Odsonne Edouard has been linked with a number of clubs, including Premier League duo Arsenal and Leicester City. Former Scotland midfielder, Barry Ferguson, has claimed that Celtic striker, Odsonne Edouard, who has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Leicester City, would 'walk into a top-six side' in the Premier League. Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Ferguson, waxed-lyrical about the qualities Edouard has in his locker, as he claimed that highly-rated youngster has 'everything' and during this past month, he has been on a 'different planet' to others. The Daily Mail has claimed that Mikel Arteta's summer transfer wishlist is headed by a number of Europe's top stars, including Celtic's gifted 22-year-old, Edouard. Those sitting in the boardrooms at the Emirates Stadium will already have the number of their counterparts in Parkhead following Kieran Tierney's transfer to England's capital last summer. Given Edouard's recent form, it wouldn't be a surprise if he is the next high-profile star to leave Celtic when the temperatures in England and Scotland rise again, and ex-Rangers man, Ferguson, thinks he's good enough for the best of the best. "I rate him very highly," Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. "I have said a few times I think he's going to be better than [Mousa] Dembele. He has got everything in the locker. And certainly, during the last month, he has been on a different planet in terms of his football. "He's scoring goals and what has been the making of him is Leigh Griffiths coming up and playing alongside him. Two upfront. He can drop into the area where he is difficult to pick up. "But, he is in unbelievable form, at this moment in time. And similar to Morelos at Rangers, there will be a lot of teams looking at him. I have no doubt in my mind. I think he can go to the very top. For me, he can go and play in the top-six, easily, just now. I really do. I think that's how good he is and I still think there's improvement in him. He could walk into the top-six in England right now." Over the course of the season, Edouard has played 38 games in all competitions for the Bhoys, scoring 23 goals and supplying his teammates with 16 assists [transfermarkt]. Arsenal have a plethora of attacking talent on their doorstep, but there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding many of them, and it does seem as though the Gunners have lacked the spark they once had in the final third. In recent months, the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are just some of the youngsters who have shone under Arteta. Could Edouard add his name to that list in the summer?
