Bonjour
I’m really interested in this. Will it be online?
I am new here and have had a really interesting read, great job everyone. I need to increase my CRS score as well. Thanks

Nairaland is definitely the gift that keeps on giving. Hi all. I only just started considering writing a French test as a second language yesterday because I lost 5 points, as my birthday was last week and even before then, I was stuck on 463. Now I have maxed out my IELTS (got 9 in all) and the most feasible option to garnering any more points is the TEF route. Now here are my questions:
1. Considering the fact that I only know elementary French and can hardly construct any meaningful, grammatically correct sentences, how long realistically do I need to learn to get a decent score.
2. Seeing as English is my official first language, does it then mean that I do not necessarily have to get a very high score in the TEF to get the extra 17 points to get to 475 CRS points (475 being the highest point when ITAs were issued last year)?
3. I live close to an Alliance Francaise but would any other institution better serve my needs of being able to reach a decent score on the TEF exams?

Just as an aside, this is on of the most harmonious threads that I have come across on NL. Thanks everyone for your contributions thus far.
Cheers.

Wooowwww.... your IELTS result is supper impressive. Please can you share some materials you used to achieve it? Because, I'll be writing mine next month. I'll deeply appreciate it. Thanks. liyawarmate@yahoo.com

Bonjour,

Spouse did not do too well at IELTS. Did not take it serious sadly.

Anyway scores up to 461 and let us see what WES does regarding the Nigerian Uni degrees.

C'est la merde!

Well, the express entry is kind of foggy for me as per the credentials. So if I understand how ot works, our score stays frozen at 461 even if we update with spouse WES certification right?

Seniors in the house, how many people have tried Ontario french speaking scheme, is it good also or one should stick with FSW?

Wow. That is gonna be some extra 1500 CAD. Wow. Not for now.

After one gets selected from the EE pool, does the CRS score drop when he /she gets older?
Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by amaya21: 1:51pm On Feb 14, 2020
It won't be frozen if you update with her WES results. Your score should increase according to what her degree(s) are. I think for accompanying spouse its 8 for Bachelor's, 10 for Master's or something. 461 + 8 should put you at a good score. Hopefully.

Thanks for feedback. I ran a simulation using the CRS tool and it came back as 471.

Hopefully that will be the score after WES certificate is out.

449 to 461 is 12 points from IELTS....please encourage her...and you may be suprised that at her next attempt the 12 points may increase to 20 points (the max for spouse IELTS), taking you to 469 without ECA and 479 when WES is done if her's is a Masters.

Hello why don't you take the spouse unaccompanying route...Then you Sponsor her when you get to Canada..It is a long wait but it is worth it..Your eyes should be on the Prize..So you don't keep spending cash that you can use for other things..My 2cents

Great advice. Certainly worth considering. The problem with that option is that we cannot land together as a family.

DanMisla did.

It is not either, or. They go together

Ontario French Speakers Programme is a PNP route that add 600 points to you and allows you to get ITA from the FSW/Express Entry programme.

To qualify you need at least CLB7 in French and CLB6 in English and you need to select French as first language. I am not sure that their draws have a regular timetable.

My opinion is to keep exploring valid ways to increase points....ALWAYS!!! For example, doing CIMA or BCS if you have only one degree at the moment.

Believe that scores will drop, as if you didn't have any other options.

CIMA, BCS or Open University, which is more preferable or faster?

From what I hear CIMA since it is self paced.... but please research all three before you decide. There is a CIMA thread here on NL.

Hi everyone, I want to know what schools can be recommended to go for French lectures (weekend) to prepare myself for TEF.
Location: Lagos
I've heard of Alliance Francaise, but i don't know of their precise rate for weekend classes.

Also, what level do I need to get to for me to take TEF?
Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by niofa(m): 5:50pm On Feb 15, 2020
Hi, I'm a BSc graduate with just about 2 years experience (NYSC inclusive), I have just a 'mini certification' in data analysis beside by BSc.
Apart from writing IELTS, what other valid way can you advice for me to increase points, besides the ones listed below?

How long did it take you to prepare?
What books did you use? Classes??

Hello!

Look up af.lagos on Instagram to get contact details/rates etc. Rates are around ~50k

Other Lagos-based physical classes include IEF, Yaba. You can get their phone number from the previous page on this thread.

To be ready for the TEF, you need to be able to demonstrate a good B2 (Upper Intermediate) level.

Hello Mr. Mamaroon, please which is cheaper, BCS or CIMA?

Modified: I have seen your reply to someone else, it's CIMA. I would check the websites of the two exam organisations myself.
