That's not forgery until one or more of schools where he claimed that he got them distance itself from his claim. That didn't happen, hasn't happened. It's a punishment, not a justice.
As at today, nobody can say that they discovered that he forged them because nobody investigated anything so far.

Me my primary school cert bears Momodu Abdulai and my secondary bears Momodu Abdul while my University cert carries Momoh Abudu Oshomah. But I am the authentic owner of the cert and I have also sworn affidavit to support it. Hope this will not affect me whenever I decided to run for elective position.

We have an acting director in FIIRO claiming a fraudulent PhD from Cotonou, he is still there; we have a Rector in one of the polytechnics with a fraudulent PhD. We also had a case sometime ago where a person was demoted for false academic credentials as a commissioner or something.

The question is, why do Nigerians lie about their academic qualifications when it's not necessary? Much as the deputy governor-elect is culpable, I also blame David Lyon for not doing his due diligence on his would-be deputy before running with him. If he can't screen his own deputy properly, how would he screen the state's budgets and valorisation of contracts before signing off?

With this singular error, David Lyon demonstrated gross incompetence in leadership and management. The apex court did not err in ousting him.

It is not INEC's fault.The rule say political parties are to verify certificates before submission of normination form.INEC has no blame here instead blame Oshiomhole who did not do his work well. I know the NWC must have cleared the deputy governor to contest the election but the bulk lies in Oshiomholes table.The letter sent to INEC is carrying Oshiomhole's signature attached to it the normination forms.
In a civilised country Oshiomhole should have since resigned but never is the case here until he is disgraced out of office.

Honestly, it’s high time the electoral laws are reviewed and passed into law. Imagine after elections, the court will becos of one technicality oppose the peoples choice. This is really bad and the Supreme Court is setting a very bad precedence . How can a loser be declared a winner by the Supreme Court? Why can’t they disqualify the deputy governor and allow Lyon to choose another person ? This is where the new electoral laws will be useful. Forget about parties and politicians , I am been realistic here . They should have at least shifted the judgement till after inauguration. Their judgement will result in some people taking laws in their hands and before u know it, people will die. This judges should fear God ooo. As for Lyon, I feel for u but I am sure that the Lord will wipe ur tears. It’s a pity that ur running mate caused u this pain but God has a way of settling things. May be He never wanted u to rule Bayelsa with a forger. To be honest, I don’t get why politicians like lying about their qualification when a simple secondary school certificate is what is required to contest for a public office. Rauf Aregbesola is a good example of a smart politician. All his public life from Lagos to Osun and now Abuja, he has never presented more than his WAEC certificate.

It’s very unfair to blame David Lyon for this mess. When you’re contesting for governor in Nigeria, the choice of your running mate is not entirely up to you except in some exceptional cases.

In Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva singlehandedly nominated the running mate as a sort of compromise for not running against him and to mobilize his structure for him during the general election. David Lyon really had no choice because the party sanctioned the choice. It’s even difficult to complain because the running mate contested for senate and won without any issue.
