Dangote Cement HR.... Why? by Pomzzy: 3:56pm On Feb 14, 2020
Disclaimer: This post is not to bring dangote cement hr down in any way or paint them bad... Just to air my grievances

2017, Dangote Cement came out with a recruitment for management training which I applied and was shortlisted. Dragnet conducted the recruitment test and folks that have written those test will know how difficult it can be.
My joy new no bounds when I got a success mail asking me to prepare for the next stage which was the assessment center. It was a three in one exercise...
Group discussion
Presentation and
Interview
I did my best.. Prayed and left it...
I forgot about it and assumed I didn't make it when I had no feedback from them for some months. A couple of months later... I read on Nairaland that some folks have been employed. Painful but I moved on. It was not my first failed attempt at getting employed hence moving on was easy.
.
My people, I was in my room this blessed day in December 2018 and one of Dangote staff called me telling me I was successful and asked me to prepare for resumption in January 2019. I was the happiest person in earth that day. I thought finally that this yoke of unemployment is broken for good in my life. Mind you.. I graduated since 2014.
My people, January came and nothing from Dangote, February till June another call came.
Again we were told Aug will be the resumption date that we should send our availability to one mail which I did..
Just like you guess, August came and passed, nothing and alll this was last year 2019.
December, a couple of friends that were also called received another call again... And they left me and some others. I heard they were employed this last January which begs the question, what happened to the others?

Alas
A couple of weeks ago I got a mail from Dangote cement Hr.
You know how they sweet talk you when they want to pass a bad message:
Ehn.. They would have been privileged to hire me but space is limited... That I am overaged and they wanted 26 years old and below yet You people started this recruitment process in 2017 and I was within the age bracket then.

Dangote Cement Hr, here are my questions to you

1. Do I have any control over my age for you to disqualify me on something totally out of my control?
2. When you called me in Dec 2018, you knew my age and you know I will keep getting older every year. Why use that as a factor all of a sudden to boot me out?
3. Do you people know the emotional trauma you put job seekers through.

I will have really really loved if I was never informed I made the recruitment process, than to be informed and disqualified for something so insignificant as age.

Whatever really happened that made you disqualify me and others, only God understands cos it's difficult to believe that after three years, you just suddenly realized I am overaged!

I received a congratulations call by hr officer last week i will be offer for the job role and the packages they have for me. Fast forward third day I called them about the recruitment process to know when to show up for medicals the guy said I'll be contacted that I should not worry, yesterday I give a call to know my stand and I was told the job is on pending for now, that I should not quit my job yet. Anyways I have put my mind away from it and thank God have not drop resignation letter from my current place of work. Dangote group are not organized when it comes to recruitment.

Ahn ahn acts like this need to be exposed and shamed angry

Their management should see this and flush out the bottleneck(s) [be it human beings or process]. Its bad enough that our public sector is malfunctioning but when private sector starts dancing to the same drum we are heading for disaster.

This needs to be seen, so many bad reviews from Dangote yet they are always top 10 on Top 100 best companies to work in Nigeria, i honestly don’t understand it undecided

Ur own stil beta now....na fidson health care PLC break my heart the most...after a very tough test, I scale through.... Interview came... I finish dem....medicals I do am...but d shocking part is while in joyous mood dat we r resuming soonest at least BTW 1 -2 months ....no call from d hr..no text...no mail...we had to delegate one person amongst us to check d hr to knw wat was going....behold d hr boldly told our delegate dat d management said we shud cancel the recruitment dat d management told dem to absorb d internal guys already working as contract or casual.....

I now begin to ask myself different questions like
- was d management sleeping wen everything started?
-was d process a cover-up for internal runs
-after wasting/Risking my life, money n time..

People travelled from far n near cox of d stuff but no body who applied for electrical maintenance officer/electrical technician was called to resume.

You said it all... Which begs the question; are we destined to fail as a nation?
