To think Ure the only one who knows about planes or aviation is redundant. And Trying to make mockery for an argument where facts where clearly given shows ur poor mindset. I have no further argument with u.

Shatap and gerrout.

I have travelled extensively around the world to places many you would consider advanced and I've been at the mercy of airlines and the weather.

So stick to topics you are exposed to.

Why is it impossible to fly out of Cape Town even till today when visibility becomes so low?

Obviously there are rare or worse weather situations in different location and at different times bt that doesn’t mean u shud comfortably run an obsolete system while giving weather excuses. That is my major point.

No matter the weather conditions.
Do you know about instrument landing system (ILS)?
Is a system that works by sending radio waves downrange from the runway end, with aircraft that intercept it using the radio waves to guide pilot onto the runway.

Nigeria don't have it..

And until we have it we have to do what's necessary to safeguard lives and property.

There's no need to build White Elephants...

Both of Nigeria's major international gateways in Lagos and Abuja are built to be EXPANDABLE....
Meanwhile, traffic at both airports are less than capacity, and if/when required both would probably be expanded.
>

Some international airports are designed to reduce the workload on surrounding infrastructures such as roads, rails, parking and accommodation as in the case of Stanstead and Gatwick international airports in the UK

When Abuja airport was shut down for repairs, air traffic was successfully relocated to nearby Kaduna airport with connecting roads and rail between both cities.

An airport can be shut down for multiple reasons such as poor weather, terrorism or in the case of Nigeria lack of maintenance, however, having another international airport close by will avoid the international embarrassment of redirecting air traffic to a foreign country.

An international airport doesn't have to be large megastructures that cause billions of dollars it can be small, but design for international travel.

Building an international airport in a city of 3 million like Ibadan will open up the state to international business and improve regional logistics.

Mumu minister he does not realize Ghana and Cotonou are closer to Lagos than Abuja. Buhari is too linient this Minister should be sacked. The airliners have lost so much money this week already. Note:Incase you want to attack me I also suffered this predicament as the Rwand air I was on couldn't land in Lagos even though the pilot was trying to land twice. We were diverted to Cotonou for 3hrs b4 dey made another attempt and was successful.

You call clearly see it written up there that due to bad weather conditions planes had to be rerouted to Accra

I just don't understand why everybody in this country is very narrow minded and unable to attribute the right problems to the right cause

Do you know how difficult it is to land a plane with very poor visibility

What control does the airport or air traffic have over the weather

Yes we have to wait to have larger traffic until we construct “more” airports, and that’s what you original post stated. More is different from new!

Sorry, my friend, you are wrong. The reason why Nigeria cities are "falling at the seams" we are waiting for increasing capacity instead of planing for increase capacity.

If you want to unravel why Nigeria is in such a terrible state, a visit to Nairaland is all you need to see reasons. Just imagine some dolts already abusing Buhari when it was clearly stated that bad weather is the reason.

Didn't you read that an improved ILS would have solved the issue? It is the stupid minister's fault and indirectly the head of state's fault for not asking why but I forgot the bastard doesn't give a damn.

How do u improve visibility? The best thing to do is to fix the ILS in the airport and no claiming you will make weather better

So as a minister of aviation you don't know why Airlines choose to reroute to Ghana other than Abuja ..okay then let me list the reasons out for you .

1 .Kotoka Airport Ghana is closer to Lagos than Abuja and so will save the airline more fuel

2. The ILS service in Abuja airport is epileptic and obsolete CAT 1 while Kotoka has CAT 3b where an aircraft can land with even just 50 ft of visibility

3 .the cost of aviation fuel is cheaper and more accessible than Nigeria

4 Kotoka airport Ghana has better runway service than any airport in Nigeria

So Mr minister you can see why any reasonable crew will opt to reroute to Ghana than head to Abuja
