Updated COST OF TRANSPORT AROUND LAGOS MAJOR ROUTES FOR WORKERS

Because of the ban on bikes and keke , Danfo drivers have upgraded the cost of transport around Lagos for no reason.

This proves how greedy most nigerians are, and how we love to take advantage of peoples misfortunes

This would help you plan your budget well or better still get a shared apartment or rent partner on cotenant

Lets get started

Obalende to ikotun = ₦700 x 261 working days (sometimes fare can be ₦800 based on timing)

Total Cost in a year = ₦391,500

Ikotun to oshodi = ₦250 x 261 working days

Oshodi to ikotun = ₦250 x 261 working days

Total Cost in a year = ₦130,500

Egbeda to oshodi = ₦300 x 261 working days

Oshoodi to egbeda = ₦250 x 261 working days

Total Cost in a year = ₦143,550

Egbeda to ikeja = ₦200 x 261 working days (sometimes its ₦200 depending on traffic or crowd i.e if danfo drivers see large crowd waiting for buses the higher the money)

Places with high foot traffic we didn’t add agege, ikorodu, mushin (most people living in mushin do actually come to oshodi(₦50) to enter bus to the highland(lekki/ajah) or obalende/cms) . Oshodi is the Link between Lagos Highland and Lagos Mainland other places include ojota, ogudu bus stop, 7up etc

Thanks for the time taken for your analysis.

Correction on your post: it is Island not 'Highland'

Aside that you did not capture for those that work or connect Obalende / CMS in your analysis.

Because of the ban on bikes and keke , Danfo drivers have upgraded the cost of transport around Lagos for no reason.

You did well but you can do better.

1. Not everybody knows how much those routes cost before the ban.

So put the previous prices side by side and it'll be far clearer.

2. Nigerias are greedy. No. Nigerians are human beings. Law of demand and supply affects everybody from Lagos to Toronto to Shenzen. If supply of transport reduced, price MUST go up. So place the right blames at the right quarters.

A. The person who banned without replacements

B. Those who keep supporting the ban

C. Those who voted him in because of tribe and party affiliations.

If your salary is not attractive in Lagos, you will be working and at the same time you will be using all your salary for transport fares. I got a job in Lekki phase one for #70k, after calculating my T. P to and fro, I've to reject the offer. life in Lagos for lower class people is rubbish. you can spend 3 hours just from Alausa to Egbeda.

What is government doing about this

The masses are suffering the effect, no salary increment and we are spending more on transportation.

At the end is gradually affecting prizes of commodities.

our roads are not suitable for cycling ..even pedestrian foot-part is a struggle for govt to create. To be honest using bicycle to some short distance places won’t be bad.

Let me use my route as a detailed sample
Before:
Estate gate to tollgate: 50
Tollgate to cms: 200
Cms to tollgate(ikeja bus) : 250/300
Tollgate to estate gate: 50
Total = 550/600
Now:
Estate gate to tollgate : 100
Tollgate to cms: 250/300
Cms to tollgate :300/400
Tollgate to estate gate : 100
Total = 750/900
Then you have days where it's higher cause of traffic.

We Nigerians are our own enemies, apart from the politicians who are bent to only loot the treasury dey, we too have alot to play.

Before the ban of keke napep, transport from obalende to Victoria island user to be N100, with only four passengers, but no but that has 16 or 14 passengers now charge N200 to Victoria island, and to even all the bus top.

Believe me, we Nigerians are too greedy, and until we stop our over greediness, Nigeria will never move forward.

Are we the same set of greedy people that wants to take the mantle of leadership from these our over greedy politicians? I am not sure Nigeria can ever move forward.

If you are ever dreaming of a better Nigeria, please wakeup from your slumber.

thank you oo, Nigerians are so wicked always take opportunity of anything, imagine from CMS to obalende that use to b 50 by keke now 100 by bus. I don't no y Lagos gov cant have bodies that will regulate transport in lagos

Now that the Keke and Okada have been banned, there is an upsurge in the fares... Obalende to Falomo used to be #50 before, now its #100 and same applies to all locations in the Island

Some may be right but a review is necessary.

Nice job bro..
Obalende to Keffi junction used to be #50. Is now #100 with Korope "small bus"

Obalende to Falomo used to be #100 and still #100 despite the ban on Keke Marwan.

Bicycles would actually perform better on our roads, the only problem we have are motorist driving attitudes..............

I'll rather borrow money and buy an old volkswagen beetle than spend this kind of money on transport.

Yeah, it's not actually stable.

Look at Oshodi to Ikotun #250, something that low before.

Sometimes you can get Ajah to Oshodi #400, and #300 in those big red buses. But there's one pack there that charges #500, and when you are coming back, it is cheaper in the morning and afternoon but shoots up in the evening and night.

Maybe he got the cab at Abraham adesanya ir he entered those gwogworo buses. I noticed those buses are cheaper.

Ilaje in Ajah to Abraham adesanya #50. Ajah to shoprite is #100... Ajah to Lakowe is #150.

One thing is the prices are not stable, it depends on the driver and on the type of vehicle.
