The ambassador should be called to order or be replaced by a better person. Maybe he is tired of working.

The ambassador is doing a great job.

How could you enter a foreign country with an agreement to leave at the expiration of your visa. You refused to leave after your visa expiry dates. You engage in frivolous and shameful acts and then you were caught. then, You cry wolf for your country to come and help you, after intentionally engaging in illegality. if you don't get help you cry blue murder. The youth of now a days love to live in self deception.

If I were the Consular General or even the President, I will not support illegality. I will not help, unless your case is genuine. If you enter a country illegally and also decide to engage in illicit acts, then whatever you see, be ready to face the music. Lets call a spade a spade. what is not good, is not good. There are no two ways about it.
I wonder why the youths are so gullible theses days. you do something wrong and you still want to be part in the back for wrong doing? shame!!!

Oga,Norway is not an ordinary country. It is among the top 10 wealthiest countries on earth and have a social security unlike any country in western world, the government provide accommodation for the homeless, and pay unemployment benefit for people out of work. It's far better to be in Norway than UK,or USA.

i say this without fear or favour Nigerian Ministry of foriegn Affairs need total over haul, most of the career diplomate do not know there job, they think they are been paid to work for forgien governments and most of the time you can not blame them, the missions are grossly underfunded and worst of all without clear directives.it is only Nigerian missions that there citizens run to and are turned back, yes i would agree that some of the Nigerians abroad behave like crazy people but you signed for the job,it would shock you to know that almost all the time politically Appointed Ambassadors do far far better than career diplomate, second the minister needs to seat up or resign, madam abike should be made the Minister of forgien affairs.

From what she has said I think the ambassador is doing a good job representing the president. An ambassador is a direct representative of the president.

His behaviour is in order ad per who put him there.

May God save us from being at their mercy. Let them know money does not mean peace, health, wealth, peace or security.

The rich too can suffer the fate of the poor

In distress abroad, is better to seek refuge in a nearby bar or restaurant to the Nigerian Embassy, not the embassy itself. They got nothing to offer

the consulate is meant to provide help for all Nigerians in foreign country. they are there to assist those Nigerians who have problem with their papers not to live expensive lifestyle.

they are there to negotiate with their host country when Nigerians abroad run into trouble to see if there is a way out

Assist them in what sense? Can you explain what you mean by "assist those Nigerians who have problem with their papers"? What kind of assistance? The only assistance is you should go home, regularize your papers and come back legally. What other assistance are you talking about?

I was in a foreign country recently and was given a ride by a Nigerian guy I know. Only for police to stop us and lo and behold, he was driving with an expired license. I kept asking myself why I did not use public transportation instead of enduring the embarrassment we were subjected to.

Many of our guys think they can get away with the things they do here abroad. Iro ni! Not possible.

If you are living in another country illegally, you are to be deported. You government can not be complicit in illegality.

A family friend once served time in a Moroccan prison. While there, the Nigerian ambassador to Morocco visited the prison given that there was a sizable number of Nigerians there.

When Mr Ambassador visited, the Nigerian inmates were called to have a chat with him. During the chat he asked three out of the bunch their names (coincidentally they were from same ethnicity) and when they replied, Mr Ambassador shrugged and said "why are your people always embarrassing Nigeria"?

Can you imagine that level of unprofessionalism?

Common, The Ambassador is human and will always behave as one involuntarily. Just imagine when you get to realise all prison inmates are same set of people who are littering other prisons in different countries.

He is bound to react. Even when one of your child give you too much trouble you don't know when you yell "Na only you I born"

Asour:

If this truly happened, and the inmates were nabbed for real crimes (not mere suspicion), then the Ambassador was well in his right for asking them this question (I assume he was not being tribal).

Even you and me MAY be guilty of this sentiment too.

As citizens of a (Mostly) Poor Nation, Caused in part by bad leaderships, Our International image evoke contempt from other Nationals. You'll generally have to do a lot to beat this perception.

You also have to accept to suffer some inconveniences (as regards rights to citizens of these other countries) as a result of being an "Outsider".

Nigerians (Certainly not all) commiting crimes or "Disturbing the peace" in these mostly homogeneous white countries also make matters worse for us all.

The long/short of it is that the reputation of these criminal few are extended to us all. At times they (these foreigners also have contempt for our leaders too. They may not show it much because those ones spend there and do not permanently leave there)

Ultimately, All Nigerians should know that their actions have an effect on those coming behind them.

I understand your point. But, diplomacy and tact means that one doesn't say or air everything that on their mind. You may be working for a boss who you truly believe is an asshole, you certainly won't tell her that...thats tact.

In the Western world, people bring up law suits for utterances like that.
