The things i have read and learnt about water melon is stagering,

most people always talk nagative about it,
saying it does not grow well at all,

but here in my area,
inside the market there is always a full truck load with water melons standing there to be offloaded,

how come did water melons suddenly start growing well?

One thing op you need to do is try look for an expert water melon farmer so he can show you the way,

most of them have hidden secrets that they use in growing this things,

and mind you anything people complains about and hates to do due to the high risk involved in it,

just know that once you unlock the secret,
there is surely a goldmine there for you to benefit much from

so i advice you to go for your dream and try this out,

even though you use a quarter plot,

its still better than not trying at all

we did water melon sometime last year and the crop performed well and fruited but sadly we didn't harvest even one single fruit from the farm,WHY? the area we planted was infested by all manner of rodents, rats, small mammals and everything in between and they always take a bite from every fruit,we considered doing a dwarf chicken mesh fence round the farm but dropped the idea when we found out it will only stop 50% of the animals the remaining 50% are squrriels, cane rats, bush rats, flying fox for this set of animals if you like build wall of Jericho you are just wasting time.

There is always a way out for everything,

no matter how hard people complains and sees negatively on something

there is always a way out,

just think!

As for me try use sack farming method for this water melon,

and hang them in empty rooftops,

the kind of rooftops i mean are the once that are yet to be completed!

All this one storey buidings that are yet to be finished without any roofing is good,

just climb the stairs do your planting there with sacks to avoid animals and most pest

it looks like you are new on sack farming,

there are countless videos of water melon been grown in sacks,

as far you can be watering and feeding them with adequate fertilizers,

how will they die off when you are taking good care of them?

There is nothing that can never be grown in sack bags

sometimes i keep wondering even if mango or orange trees can really be grown in sack bags?

Just to tell you how possible things you never imagined can really happen!

Never underextimate the power of thinking and trying new things out

water melons will grow well as far you keep them watered and fertilized adequately oga!

cheers

seems you don't even understand the scenario, these are not pests you spray chemical they will run away or die off, these are stubborn animals that 70% of them come out at night to forage, how do you eliminate those bush rats, voles, cane rats, grass cutters, porcupine, should we take gun and be patrolling the farm at night,we tried wrapping the balls in empty cement bag another bad idea, setting traps, you are more likely to put your foot in one rather than the animals, the only solution is planting in an area with heavy agricultural presence.

the video you are talking about will definitely be from a hobby farmer or a backyard garden, try to grow 2000 watermelon in sacks and also hang them on uncompleted building and also support their heavy balls with planks, scaffolding, etc,be ready because the uncompleted building is likely to collapse on top of you,,then you will see that it is a mission impossible, growing watermelon is not as straight forward as just watering and fertilization, even if you use hose to water it carelessly it's a problem.

yes yu can plan water melon on a sack bag, but it must be on a open area, and not high plant form like a roof top. If you want your water melon to produce untop of a roof, there is a trick you must apply, and i can tell u

even a backyard watermelon farm untop of a roof, by it 3month of stage, it wil throw u into a state of dilema and confusion why yur crop is not producing fruit.

Nigeria is what it is because we don't learn from people, people planting apple and making millions from it should come and plant it in my backyard. God has blessed different regions differently.

Watermelon, hardly do well in South South the way it does in the North while casava can do well in South South but not in the North.

Ops we are still expecting your updates on your farm.
