When you are doing online transactions with financial institutions, and paying with your ATM card/Debit card/Credit card, the online biller will contact your bank who will send you a OTP via text (or if you have no access to your phone, via email) to enter on the biller's site when prompted....which authenticates the transaction as being from you, and allows it to proceed.

A similar system is used when you are resetting your email password, Facebook password, and other social media password, etc.

you are just a novice of what is going on the financial institutions. Bvn is required whenever you want to borrow or get loan. Even if u download the app online, you will still need to fill us Bvn. The girl that came to u is one of their marketers, she should have introduce herself better and explain more better for you.

Ol boy, something similar happened to me, was driving with bae, someone inside another car waved at me around my biz place so I thought it could be a customer whose face I don't really know, stopped, man alights and move to me, saying they're going to ibadan and fuel finish, I helped out with the little I cld, insisted I dropped my phone number, I won't usually oblige but the begging come pass begging for the money gan, evening he calls to say thanks, me I'm like no qualms, we never know who cld help us, next morning, calls again to say thanks , afternoon call again, I became suspicious, evening call again he said his pastor or Alfa wants to pray for me, when he started saying awkward language I hung up blocked the number make them no jazz me, good deed done has been appreciated enough, I don't hesitate to block any number I did not personally save or I don't know who's on the other side

Wanted to take advantage of help

Another one has called me saying from my bank, called out my full name and other details, then my brain paused (thank God) cos I know my bank's phone nymbers, asked why he called with a different number, guy gives weak reply, then I realized that's not even the number I put on that particular bank's bio data, wondering how he got my second number which I don't even give any human being except family or very long time friends

someone actually send me airtime,later call me that is a mistake,that is grand father want to send to his daughter.
that is should pls resend the credit to him, which i did.
later on, he call me back that his father want to thank me and also want to pray for me.
he prayed and thank me and later divert to another issue, he told me he is a native doctor that he can me wealthy,famous.
he told me he is the one that make dangote wealthy and many other famous people.

You see, she's getting paid to bring people to the platform and failure to get people to sign up (with her code) means she won't be getting anything.

You see, that lady is only trying to make some money legally and not trying to scam you. If you had completed the sign up process, the company would have paid her a certain amount.

Meanwhile, Nobody can steal or deduct money from your account with just your BVN. Your BVN is just like your account number, that people have it does not mean they have access to the funds inside.

An idiot called me with a phone number and said that my bank registration details had issues. I asked him "which bank?", he hesitated slightly and then said UBA, at that point I knew he was lying as I had no transaction with UBA at all. I decided to play along anyway so I asked him what the problem was. He said that it was an issue related to the spelling of my middle name and my date of birth so he would require my BVN to input the correct details so I don't stress myself.

I laughed and told him that if there was a problem, I'll go to the bank and sort it out myself. He then said "F*ck you, you're a bastard", I told him "You're an idiot, your father". Then he hung up.

You're the one who is dumb here not her. Even if you want to borrow money from the app you'll still need to put your BVN. It's the lady I pity for embarrassing her self.

That was how one day a number called my mom that his father mistakenly sent her credit card meant for him . She came to informed me about the situation in the kitchen while I was cooking.

It seemed odd to me and I wanted to tell her to just sent him the credit card number but common sense took over me and I told her that when next the strange number calls, she should tell him to inform his father that she won’t load the card , he should resend it to him.

She did exactly that and the number never called again.

Having read comments similar to this situation, I’ve concluded it was a scam ordeal about to take place . Thank God we didn’t fall for it .

Fraudsters are making research on daily basis. Beware!

This is an old trick now, solutions never trust anybody that calls you, before you pick the calls let the word scammer be ringing in your brain even if na known numbers.

All the scam tactics that I've ever seen
their is no way I'll fall for them.

But truly this one I'll have fall for it.
