Re: Android Tv Boxes: Are They Worth Buying? by Bossman(m):
I honestly do not believe this is feasible unless you have unlimited data. I use YoutubeTV instead cable. And as already mentioned, these services strictly use the internet to get you the same thing you get via cable. So for somewhere like Nigeria, where unlimited internet is not common, it's really not feasible. Also it's best if used via a wired connection, which is almost non existent in Nigeria. A lot of homes here are wired for Cat6 cable. And just about all TVs are internet ready (with Ethernet port in the back), so we just plug that into the wired cable. When I check my Xfinity account, we (family of 4) average about 800 - 900 GB monthly. Everything is internet here. So that's the entire monthly internet usage.

BrickDevo:
any possibility of streaming live epl and champions league football matches
BrickDevo, with the right resources, you have endless possibilities with the Android TV box. For starters, you need to have a truly unlimited & reliable WiFi Internet access to enjoy your set top box. Truth is there are days you'd have downtimes as a result of poor internet service, but overall, I'm pleased with the service I've used for about 4 years.

To your question, I say yes, you can stream live EPL, UCL, Europa league, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue and Serie A matches right on your Android TV box just like you can on your phone. Once you're hooked to IPTV services (both free and paid), you're good to go. I stream matches and other live videos right on the Android TV box just like I can do same on my phone.

I'd say I very much prefer this set up to DSTv or GOTv because you are spoiled for choice as you have a plethora of channels and other contents to watch. I even have the StarTimes app installed on my box where I can watch Europa League matches when available. Sure you know DSTv doesn't air Europa league matches here in Nigeria, but they do in South Africa. How do I know this? Thanks to IPTV.

The cinemas don't attract me again since I have apps installed to watch very recent movies as well as paid apps like Netflix. Try it and you'd wonder why you haven't switched ever since.

LOL. I knew you would. I was also in the dark a few years ago, but I've since found out cable TV is so very limited. For less than what it costs to get the DSTv premium bouquet, I get much more TV content as well as unlimited Internet access.

The apps are usually free on the Google playstore (I use GSE smart IPTV and ProgTV), but it's the m3u playlists that you'd have to purchase from any IPTV dealer.

I'll advice you start with the free IPTV apps like redboxTV, HDStreamz, etc to see how it goes before you plunge into the paid ones. You can also get a free app from the link below.

Android Television Boxes or android tv boxes are entertainment systems which share semblance with portable satellite tv receivers/decoders, with the basic difference being that the android tv boxes run the android operating system.

They are capable of doing virtually everything your android smartphone can (but of course we know this this is dependent on the device's CPU, amongst other components).

There are quite a number of manufacturers out there who produce these devices, which are seen as a cheap alternative to purchasing smart tv's but some highend ones can be quite expensive.

While I've never used one personally, I am facinated by their functionalities and would like techies and those who have encountered the device to please educate us on the pro/cons, some of the best to buy as well as those to avoid and even all round reviews and ratings comparing them to satellite tv' smart tv's and in some cases the possibility of using it as a home desktop computer.
pls can this device run normal android apps and games like the phone can do..
Mostly games..cos I'd like to know if it can handle android games like Codm or pung or even pes

You're right. Here I use a yearly unlimited internet plan, so I pretty much do not bother about data consumption and all that. I'll check the data now to see how much has changed since the last time I posted 232 GB.

P.S: 240 GB as at this morning, an increase of 8GB.
