Turkish immigration officials ignited outrage on social media, after a video of an African man who was wrapped in a nylon for deportation went viral. The Turkish officials unwrapped the African man after some passengers on the plane he was placed in for deportation intervened. Some passengers of the plane were heard saying the officials won't do same to a white person in a similar situation. Facebook user, Okoro Ikechukwu who shared the video wrote; Is This How France Deport ? This is Very Wrong, Imagine How One of Your African Brother Was Wrapped and Put on a Plane to be Deported from France! Interesting. If this man had not managed to free himself from that plastic wrapping, he would certainly have died from overheating before the aircraft reached its destination in Africa. On that basis alone, it should be possible for the African man to be assigned a lawyer by human rights organizations, so that the relevant authorities can be sued for that potentially lethal torture that they inflicted on the man, under the guise of restraining him, which could just as easily been accomplished with a pair of 2-dollar flex-cuffs securing his wrists. His having been stripped naked and humiliated in that aircraft, would also amount to a solid basis for a second lawsuit for damages, defamation and mental anguish inflicted. |

Sad but we should stop playing the victim. If they asked to deport you, don't behave dangerously or try to resist it. We already know how they don these things so resist. Sad really. 1 Like |

They wrap someone inside nylon to prevent scratch and breakage and you're still complaining |

Jakumo: You made sense, until you said he should be assigned a lawyer by rights organisations. That paints the picture of a helpless, indigent African who can't even identify that his rights have been infringed upon, and still relies on external help to speak up for him. This is exactly the impression that has led to his being treated in this manner, in the first instance. Sounds like I'm nitpicking, but not really ; words matter. |

passion007: I beg to differ with this snap judgement sir. With the man deported to Africa, it will most certainly take someone acting on his behalf in Europe, to pursue a legal settlement in court, unless of course the deported man has family, friends or staff to handle such matters in his absence. Furthermore, if his case is taken up by internationally recognized human rights organizations, this outrageous and utterly bizarre incident will attract a lot more media attention, and possibly achieve a far more favorable outcome for the victim, than would have been possible if his cause was only taken up by those close to him. |

Jakumo: Well, can I remind you of your exact words: "it should be possible for the African man to be ASSIGNED a lawyer... ". Is this because he's so poor he can't afford one? If he did not get assigned one, does it mean the case dies out then? Your comment entrenched that culture of dependence on the very system that has victimised him. Why can't you say " The African man should get a lawyer". That avoids the defeatist picture you've painted, and instead evokes confidence. And yes, it won't matter where in the world he is, cases have been judged in absentia and decisions upturned for people wrongfully deported, and this won't be the last. |

One reason not to resist law enforcement. Not excusing how they treated him though, but if he was peaceful no one would even know he was being deported. He would have looked like any other passenger with no immigration officer around him. 1 Like |

Just enjoy your miserable lives as fugitives in another man's land and when its time to be wrapped, keep quiet! Get their visas and be free from most of this inhumane treatment. I'll save my strength for better topics.. He who must come to equity must come with clean hands. 1 Like |

Igboes will never learn. It's always them. You've no rights in another man's country, especially when you enter illegally, are staying on expired visa, or commit crime. Stay home, or regularize your stay... and stay away from crime |
