You have a point here... There is a way they could carry out the bridge maintenance within few days. It's just a matter of applying high link technologies, in which Nigeria has not incorporated. That's why we are referred to as a "developing nation".

Its a miracle that bridge had not been shut down long ago and rebuilt. It has lost almost all its original railings and the few left are rusted beyond recovery. Traffic on the bridge is heavy. Almost every structure in its vicinity built around same time have had facelift except the bridge itself. Federal Palace Hotel, Bonny Camp Jetty, King George Stadium, Governor's Mansion and so on..... The bridge needs a new construction, period!
