Nope bro. Permit me to remind you that as we speak the Asia continent are experiencing winter. Same as Northern Africa like Tunisia and Southern Europe, Israel. A very cold temperature. So the report could be true. Hope this helps!

science is actually assumptions based on facts that's why we call these assumptions hypothesis.so with time and effort through research these assumptions backed with solid facts will become clearly stated...I should actually say tufiakwa to you because if you understand science well you will know it is never wrong to assume

There is no scientific and calculated guess work here. He was just making an un verifiable assumption. How could he have said that the hot weather "may" be responsible.

If you are following up on the corona virus research, you will see outcomes from on going research regarding the impact of heat on the virus.

Doctors in China and World health have also done their own check to see if there is impact of environmental condition on the virus but none came out positive.

Here, you have one doctor in his office using the usual, "may be" to say rubbish.

Also go and believe the current narrative going on that the reason for slow spread of the virus in Africa is because black skin is immune to the virus.

Oga, I like facts, figures, infographics and we'll documented evidence on claims and not "may be."

Not an unverifiable assumption.
A hypothesis.
It is,ultimately, verifiable.
It does not have to be right. Such is the fare of scientific inquiry
To be fair it is not an outrageous hypothesis though it requires further investigation

science is versatile. China scientist doing a lab work to check if the virus is affected by weather and it comes out negative can never be conclusive because as I know no one knows totally about the virus or has understood it totally .The view weather has an impact on the virus is a deductive view. Coronavirus is widely known to be a flu virus. Flu virus are normally active in the winter period that's why you see more people with flu during the cold. The cold makes it easy for the virus to strive. So people are deducing since the Coronavirus is related to the flu virus then probably the weather has an impact on it. This is not conclusive but a good guess based on reason and facts...and yes some people can be genetically disposed to a certain virus than others...they are carryings out research on the virus RNA and with time the world will get to understand it better....but don't be surprise that climate is a factor to its spread for it is quite possible

Re: Nigeria’s Hot Temperature May Suppress Spread Of Coronavirus — Virologist by kokomilala(m): 6:54pm On Mar 03, 2020
I share the same thoughts. The virus is just like pneumonia, but acts like a loose canon or an AK-47 with a worn out trigger. I reckon it will pass once winter finally goes.
In the tropics, it can't stand. That's why scientists have been scratching their heads. They're wondering why it's not ravaging Sub-Sahara Africa despite its pandemic impact elsewhere all over the world.

Like seriously, I wonder why we Nigerians always neglect our own. if it were to be
a white scientist that made that claim ... we would have applauded him/ her. However, Dr Fowotade only made a suggestion that our weather condition "May" reduce the spread of the envelop Virus. This might be true base on scientific facts. So please lets not debunk her claim. Besides she is a consultant virologist for that matter. she study hard to attain to that level. My opinion though.

Dr. Is right.

I watched an interview of an aide to the Chinese economic minister, she claims they are hoping to return to summer so the spread of the virus can be minimal.

What does that say?

Their temperature in summer isnt as hot as hour and in conclusion if coro finds its way to naija, the probability of it spreading is minimal

Is it spreading in Saudi, Tunisia and Israel? The scientist is right. Our hot environment with high humidity may be the reason the Covid is not spreading in Nigeria.

Before nko, that is the reason why most Nigerians aren't bothered about going to hell because they will easily adapt to it's hotness

At least, there is ability in our disability. We might be backward, have a dullard and serial terrorist/rapist as our president, have extremists and jihadists as our neighbours, poverty, banditry etc...

But one thing is sure we have heat in abundance, I think it's time we start exporting some

Dubai is not hot all year round. Perhaps you should check their climate. They have winter and summer seasons too. It's still kinda winter there now and their temperature is lower than Nigeria's presently.

it is not assumption..it's the fact..flu doesn't thrive in hot weather... coronavirus is inactive at 38 degrees.. coronavirus won't survive most cities in northern Nigeria
north is cold most times.. apart from the afternoon sun.. so the theory is not all encompassing for Nigeria states

Probability mentality is a delicate game or balance here for a virus that has propensity to kill its victim.
