He cant move freely that is the tradition which he agree to up hold.

He can't enter kano again and he cant contest for any position except if he is pardon by the governor or the President.

If he is sick and want to travel he would have to take permission
this is serious, very serious....i cant wish my enemy to go through this.

Courts are not dead

Impeached governors are not put under house arrest, why should he?

Archaic customs must die. Ogun state just revoked human rituals in obas' burials, this must go too

Unless pardoned by the governor? When did the governor become a part of tradition?

The Director-General, Media and Communications, Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai, has said the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, won’t have access to visitors.

He said this while making clarification on the removal of Sanusi on Monday.

The Kano State Executive Council had on Monday approved the immediate removal of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, announced the unanimous decision of the council at a news conference on Monday in Kano.

He said the removal of the monarch followed alleged disrespect to lawful instructions by the state governor.

After Sanusi’s removal, there were speculations that he could emerge as the presidential or governorship candidate of a political party in the 2023 general election.

But Yakasi via his Twitter handle, @dawisu, said Sanusi would be kept in exile and would not have his freedom as expected.

“Clearly, some people are ignorant of how dethronement works. When an Emir is dethroned, he is sent to exile in a remote location and will basically be under house arrest and won’t have access to visitors. A person under these circumstances will be after his freedom and not the next election,” he tweeted.

This Ganduje aide reels of ignorance!

There are two issues here (1) Dethronement and (2) Banishment
The Governor is within his right to dethrone a traditional rule but issue of banishment into exile has been set aside by a court of high jurisprudence in the case of Jokolo (Fmr. Emir of Gwandu) vs. Kebbi State, as banishment into exile contradicts the 1999 Constitution of freedom of movement.

All of you dragging this.

Do you know what have been signed behind doors?

Both inside and outside.

None of you is more intelligent than Sanusi or more connected than him yet he is silent.

Its them vs them.

Dumb people talking about 2023 when they have not outlived 2020 is the reason Sanusi will be seen as a saint.

And what will happen after 2023 when Ganduje is no more in office.

Can you guys for once in your life leave personalities alone.

What will happen when the traffic warden closes for the day and leaves the intersection. Will you still obey the traffic light. Must he remain there for life.

Once again we blacks need an idol, a totem pole, a korofo with a whip. We don't believe in paper, we dislike information, we war against anything written....

If not how can obeying the written law be so hard. Must the governor be in office before an edict approved by the lawmakers of the state be in effect.

North and east... no value for culture and heritage...

Alaafin Adeniran Adeyemi II was deposed in 1955 at the age of 84.

Olowo Sir Olateru Olagbegi was deposed in 1966. Though returned after 25 years when his successor Olowo Ogunoye passed away.

Both Obas had a disagreement with Obafemi Awolowo.

Oba of Benin is not selected but born a crown prince. As long as that crown prince is alive, nobody else will accept the throne. Not even another prince or his son.
When the British deposed Oba Ovonramwen in 1897, the throne remained vacant until 1914 when he passed on in exile in Calabar.

So even if any politician was crazy enough to try such, he will have at least 67% of Edo State population (the Benins) against him. He will have no government as no Benin person will remain in his government or be his appointee. That is the difference. He will have to move his governor's office to a town outside Benin people's LGAs.

What nonsense are you saying? Any law or agreement made contrary to the Constitution is null and void. This is totally illegal.

I hope his properties will not be consflicated and his bank accounts frozen. All these harsh punishment because of differences in ideology and political preference, Haba! What this means is that the traditional institution in Nigeria is dead.

Is that what the constitution of the country says?

In this modern era, someone will just wake up and banished another person from his domain and on top of that, deny him freedom of movement and association.

Why not just move him to prison straight?

You see that many many people are mad in thos country

Sanusi's experience is enough reason for anybody to be truthful and just; because, when you operate wickedly based on ethnic sentiments it will come back to hunt you. Think about obl, Soyinka, tiefnubu, shehu sani, kwakwanso, kperogi etc are all in frying pans even though they don't show it. But Jonathan, okonjo iwuala, adeshina etc keep waxing stronger and with honour.

Yakasai is an idiot who still think Nigeria is governed by archaic laws. The constitution is supreme to every other laws in the country. He should go and read the decision of the court of appeal in the case of Emir Jakolo vs Kebbi State government.
The North unfortunately is governed by archaic laws undecided

Hon. Sanusi would move freely, its in the Nigerian Constitution. The case of a fmr. Emir against Kebbi State as reference.

We can't help Sanusi, he choose Islam for himself and he knew before now the consequences and benefits associated with emirs. If he is not happy with his position now. The only man that can give him freedom is Jesus Christ whom he had professed that he like.

This is stupid power play. If the man has not been convicted of any crime no one should have the power to confine him.

You can see clearly the mentality of this Northerners.
I can now see why Nigerian is at the verge of collapse because of the combined leadership of the northerners.
