Boss, you don talk am finish. I love your analysis. Well detailed. Indeed, even if it's 500k traded off between the affordable luxury models and the Corolla, it's better to buy that comfort and luxury.
The Corolla is overrated, in my opinion, and even the 300k+ difference, as analyzed, in its favor is simply because it is in high demand. The car shouldn't be more than N1.2million, like most of the cars in its category, going by @amdman's fair TLC prices .
The Corolla's high demand is fuelled by the fuel efficiency stereotype. And, with more users of a car model, comes availability of replacement parts in the spares market. It's not rocket science, just demand and supply.

The Toyota Prius model remains the most fuel efficient Toyota of all time, year-on-year. Yet, you won't see many of it on Nigeria's roads. Why? If Nigerians love fuel efficiency so much, why aren't they buying the Toyota Prius?

In my opinion, the Corolla-or-nothing mentality is poverty-induced. Some people are not poor, but they are also cautious about displaying any signs of (enjoying) wealth. They can afford a 2010 Camry Hybrid with thumbstart ignition (which has similar or better fuel efficiency than the 2003-2007 Corolla), but they're afraid to spend or enjoy money or look rich, not just for family or friends that may come to them with financial requests, not because of 'village people', but because they have a poverty mentality. 'Shebi car is car. Make e just carry us from point A to B', they say. They're afraid that the money will finish soon, or that they will die sooner than later, because they 'dared to enjoy life'. Nobody is pursuing them, they're the ones, deliberately, limiting themselves.
When you, eventually, realize that this life is actually too short to make shitty Corolla choices, you'd adjust your mentality, and buy what you know that you'd love driving, a car model you'd love to be seen in/that can go places, and can still afford to maintain. No be say you go buy your Corolla kon dey admire person wey dey drive Nissan Rouge, Infiniti, Honda Pilot, Ford Edge, Acura MDX, Honda CrossTour and the likes, and you still need to park your Corolla some miles away from an event, make e no be like say na Uber you carry come. People don't even desire to take pictures in/with your car. Because.... Fuel efficiency and spare parts. LMAO. grin cheesy

Eleda mi o ni je ki n make stupid choices, laye mi. Ase. Amin. Amen. wink cheesy grin

Stop addressing Corolla as stupid,
the money wey we use buy am no be here...
It's all about choice as you said...
Some choose comfort...
some choose efficient...

Dont expect a trader to be running around daily with big cars...
Imagine the scenario

Thanks a lot for the info, I really don't like these Corollas because I don't see anything special about them but based on general recommendation, people like it because of parts availability and low fuel consumption. I wouldnt like to buy a ride that I will be going from shop to shop looking for parts. But you maths is well understood

Lool
Looking for parts, very bad, I better keep driving Corolla with normal blood pressure...

Choice or no choice, a Corolla (2003-2007) will always be SHIIIT to me. grin

Black, smelly, watery piece of shiiiit

I'll spend 1.7 million on a car whose interior is no different from a danfo with AC. Boring dashboard and stale interior grin

Now the goal post has been shifted from "Fuel efficiency" to "Availability of parts".

Is it a Honda civic or accord part that is scarce? Or Acura or Kia or Hyundai?

Even a Kia Rio's engine is cheaper than a corolla's engine. A Yaris engine is cheaper than it

Fuel efficiency my left nyash grin

I don't have a problem with anyone liking the car, but the way they force their choices like it's the only car that can actually meet their criteria is funny grin

I like how Naija car dealers are dealing with them sef.

Import an accidented, trashy corolla. Put finishing touches on it and peg the price at 1.8 . Then watch them troop to buy all in the name of "Fuel efficiency, Availability of parts, and Being rugged. Nonsense cheesy

The other day, one was comparing a Corolla (2003-2007) to a 2008 Ford Explorer grin grin grin

That's so heartbreaking, @ the Corolla in the link. Na real surgery those thieves do, on that car.

Apart from being fuel efficient and having readily available parts, the 2003-2007 Corolla is also a major magnet for thieves.

I remember reading a newspaper article, earlier this week, where a car parts robber said that Ladipo market traders are their major patrons, and they tell them which car parts to 'bring' (steal) to make fast cash.
I'm sure Toyota models, especially Corolla, Camry, and Highlander top the list of their requests from the thieves.

oh are the noisemakers still here lamenting about the faithful Corolla?

looool

it is late, try to sleep, tomorrow you can all continue crying and whining about the Corolla

as for me, my freshly landed 2006 Corolla from Toronto is parked outside in my secured compound fully and comprehensively insured with Mansard insurance

I shall sleep soundly knowing that no matter what, I will hop in my trusted Corolla with my #1KFUEL tomorrow morning and go about my daily business happily

who ever does not like that fact, kindly go to Wuhan and become a permanent resident
