Please anytime I start or switch on my laptop, all my recent downloaded files are erased totally from the computer anda message pop's up which say's ''you have been logged into temporary profile'' at the bottom corner.

This started happening after I tried upgrading my windows 8 to 10, It was successful but I restored it back to window 8.

I have tried several tutorials on Youtube but no solution.

Solution1: Restore the system back to earlier time. (Go to search window and type "Restore... you'll see the option) follow the steps and restore it.


Solution2: Push the current windows out by installing new windows without formatting it. (Get a new disc, don't use the one you used in formatting it before)


Either of these steps will work fine, number is guaranteed.

The process is the same process with the process of formatting a system. The difference here is you won't click on "Format" OR partition.... I'm giving this is option so that you can still retain your files.

The only solution is just to create a new user and move your files from the old user to the new user.

After creating the new user preferably as admin go to C/user and pick the old user then copy the files to the appropriate directory for the new user

Follow these steps and check for the issue.

a) Click on ‘Start’ and type ‘regedit’ in the Search box, and then press Enter.

Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b) Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

c) Under the ‘ProfileList’ subkey, delete the subkey that is named with at the end .bak’.

d) Exit ‘Registry Editor’.

e) Log off the system.

f) Log on to the system again and check if the issue persists.
