I believe she fell, she did not jump. Persons of 85 years of age do not jump.

What you mean by mental illness is perhaps dementia and it is easy for a demented old person to forget that he or she is living upstairs in a storey building. In her mind she probably only wanted to pass from one part of the house to another part.

Another point is the accident occurred when it was getting dark at night. In absence of proper lighting aged persons cannot distinguish objects , floors or doors very well and accidents do happen, Unfortunately this was a fatal one. R.I.P. Grand Ma.

Our elderly ones need freedom, need space, need to do something, to keep them passionate and alive, it's not good to restrict them, they should be able to think for themselves, have some form of independence and have healthy foods and company, let's start building a society that caters to the need of the elderly, disabled and children, so they can all live their lives to their fullest potential
