How Can I Cope With My Challenge? by Nobody: 8:47am On Mar 16, 2020
If you're a medical personnel, I need some advice. I have Sickle Cell Disorder, and against expectations, as the years rolls by, the intensity of the pains only get worsened.
I have chronic retinopathy in both eyes, plus issues with fast heart beat. I try to keep myself abreast by reading up on the Internet and keeping myself hydrated.
I don't know where I'm failing. I need help to manage my pains.

So sorry about how you feel.

To help minimize the pain and discomfort and keep crisis at bay, start your day EVERYDAY by drinking at least 2-3glasses of very warm water on an empty stomach. ( Eat nothing until about after 45mins-1hr) It'll help with blood circulation and relieve pains. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Eat more fresh foods than cooked. Lots of vegetables and fruits. Carrots, watermelon, cucumber, oranges, apples, leafy greens, bananas...
Beetroots are also good for you.

Don't eat late at night to avoid feeling bloated.
By 7pm max, you should have eaten whatever cooked food you want to, after that time passes, it should be strictly fruits or salads.

I'm sure following these steps will help a lot. ( I'm a caregiver)

This illness is associated with diabetes and occurs when the blood vessels at the back of the retina gets damaged and leaks blood into the retina causes blurred vision and if left untreated can result to blindness.
Since this is normally associated with diabetes type 2 mainly, it entails controlling blood sugar and blood pressure and some general adjustment to your living style. Am no doctor but this is the little I could churn out from what I read.

Thanks so much.

You're welcome dear.
I forgot to add: resist drinking cold water please.
The coldest should be at most, room temperature.

I pray you find comfort and peace of the body, mind and soul.

Is there no balm in Gilead?

How about you invoke the supernatural?

You don't have to manage your pain.

There are thousands of sickle cell healings.
In fact, I think the fact that sickle cell miracles readily happen means that it does not require a very high level of anointing to wrought. I could be wrong.

Do me a favour. Download and listen to random messages of Apostle Joshua Selman.

Start with "Commanding results" if you will.

Trust me. Your life is about to change.

If you don't mind me asking is it SS or SC genotype.

Nonetheless, here are my suggestions:

1)Multivitamin should be your friend especially B Vitamins.

2)Avoid Unnecessary stress

3)Avoid cold temperatures at all cost; always keep your self warm and avoid travelling to cold places. Cold is one of the reason for bone aches

4)There is a drug called dioscovite made from Yam thiocyanate.
I heard people sworn by it that it works wonder in keeping Sickle cell symptoms at bay you can look it up.

5) Go easy with things.

6) Research about bone marrow transplant, this can be total cure but not sure of it's availability in Nigeria.

7) Seek peace in divitiny; you have a creator get close to your creator .

Keep being brave.

Try as much as possible OK?
It'll help relieve the pains and ease your muscles.
You can get someone to help you with that to make it easier for you. ( if they can help give you the warm water in bed, it'll be easier for you to get out of bed, minutes after taking it)
Also, eat more of fruits with less sugar content. Fruits and vegetables like green apples, cucumber, carrots, pear...then oranges, watermelon
Always have a fruit or vegetable around you to snack on.
This whole process might seem like it's too complicated to adopt, but trust me, you'll be better for it by God's grace.

@Chi59 are you currently being managed by a Medical Dr? Pls try to see him regularly. While a lot of the advice given here is generally helpful to SS patients management is based solely on the patients and her acute or chronic presentations. A fast heartbeat could be an indication of an underlying cardiac condition and so far with all these advice no one has thought of that. That's the difference btw a Dr and all other people who give or sell health products. They treat people as if all of them are one and the same. This condition can have different presentations in different individuals. I'm not trying to scare you but to help you prevent conditions that manifest subtly which these herbal and co guys up there cannot pick up and which is often deadlier than the things they think they are treating. All the best dear. Stay beautiful ok...

I once thought about going for an ECG but then I'd have to be referred by the doctor to the teaching hospital. Right now, the palpitations have reduced. Hopefully, it'll stay this way. Or else, I'm just tired.
Thanks a lot.
