Inspired by this post - https://www.nairaland.com/5743629/coronavirus-3-nigerian-church-buildings, which is currently on the front page and considering Nairaland is not a biased platform, I have decided to do a list with Mosques that can be used as treatment centers.

Bearing in mind that Nigeria, as it is currently run, does not have the capacity to build a 1000 bed hospital in just days. It is important we make use of already existing resources that can be used to take care of thousands of infected patients.

Personally, I have always suggested that the government should work with churches, mosques, stadiums and other large centers and incorporate their facilities with NEMA as potential temporal facilities to accommodate large numbers of people during intense national crises.

1) Ilorin central Mosque

This grand place of worship is situated in the busy city of Ilorin, which has a considerable Muslim population. The 20,000-capacity sprawling edifice was sponsored mainly by the state government and supported by private individuals.

Facilities include -

1) A well - equipped multipurpose hall;
2) An Islamic library;
3) A car park; - Air-conditioners;
4) Modern lighting equipment.

It is the second biggest mosque in Nigeria, after the Abuja National Mosque, another mosque built with taxpayers money but this time by Federal Government.

2) Bashir Uthman Tofa Mosque

The Bashir Tofa mosque is regarded as the most beautiful mosque in Nigeria. This grand edifice lies in the ancient state of Kano, and it's breathtaking magnificence does more than brighten up the city.

The mosque was named after Alhaji Bashir Uthman Tofa, a National Republican Convention (NRC) candidate in the annulled Nigeria's June 12, 1993, presidential election.

3) Kano Central Mosque, Kano

The Great Mosque of Kano is said to have been shifted to a new site in 1582 by Muhammed Zaki and rebuilt yet again due to disrepair sometime between 1855 and 1883 by Sarkin Kano Abdullahi dan Dabo.

After its destruction in the 1950s, the British Government sponsored the building of a new mosque in gratitude for the Nigerian role in WWII.

This ancient edifice lies in the second most populous city in Nigeria. It is an architectural masterpiece that regularly draws thousands of tourists and Islamic scholars a year.

5) Lagos Central Mosque (Jama'Atul Central Mosque)

This architectural edifice in central Lagos used to be the national Mosque until the capital city was moved to Abuja. A commanding structure, it has existed for over 160 years undergoing renovations and expansions till its present glory. It is open to the public except during prayer hours when it admits only muslims

Is Nairaland pushing an agenda to taint the image of Christianity in Nigeria

They are quick to publish articles talking about Pastors, Churches etc but are not using same for Islam. Now I understand Seun 's plan.

A lot of Nigerian Christians lack the depth to understand what Christianity is really about. I made a post that calls the Church to sacrifice and be a tool for the rescue of the nation and someone(probably Christian) comes here to counter my opinion which he believes is Antichrist.

The beauty of Christianity shuns in darkness and every trying time. The Europeans left the comforts of Europe and many sank in the sea to bring the black race to Jesus. Many abandoned family to treat and school the African generation. Today, many of their graves lie scattered across sub Saharan Africa. They sacrificed for you - they didn't say let the Arabs teach them or give them civilization.

Today, you are asked to rent your church building to save yourselves from dying. Yet you are showing yourselves high wickedness. You would rather argue that Muslims should be forced to sacrifice mosque. Jeez I can't deal.
