I've never said government has no blame.

Matter of fact, the government comes from the pool of individuals that populate the nation.

The sum average of the Nigerian is what you see in the political sphere.
You so right , have been reading from first page,,,, the kind of people we are is the kind of leaders we choose,,,, some was saying visionary leaders where the ones they have in the western world, that thing no dey here,,,, we are the government.... Nigerians ain't productive,,,, I don't blame the government cause we are the government, we are the ones choosing them. All of them quoting you here , they cant even manage their homes, not to talk a whole nation

As much as there are a lot of Nigerians being unproductive, it all still boils down to the government. What enabling environment have they created to ensure that people are productive. There is no electricity. You start up something and they are ready to destroy it all. A lot of people have tried to do something in this country and make something out of their existence here but the environment is brutal and unforgiving.

Some employees dont know the damages this govt do to businesses. They have killed a lot of businesses and its unfurtunate, you cant fight the govt. Make the oil dry abeg let everyone hustle and be productive. This oil is the major problem we have in this country.

The government doesn't want Nigerians to be productive. The more people get productive, the more people would climb out of poverty, the lesser people they would be to control. They still need to share rice and win votes and that's why anything to defeat poverty would always be crushed.

Infact ths govt priority is to subdue her citizens

Nigeria is poor, but if APC had hit the ground running with policies since 2015 and had removed fuel subsidies and power subsidies so as to attract investors in both sectors we might have been in a better place
you made sense and raised a vital point. Sadly tribalism made us repeat same mistake this year. Another thing is that once you tell Nigerians that you want to remove subsidies, we will come for your head. So the folks in power will take advantage and loot us as much as they can riding on our sentiments

See them, people like you are the ones ruining this country. With the tax you pay noe what have they done with it? isn't it tax that Abacha looted and we are still recovering up till date?
Nigeria is like this because we don't pay taxes. When we pay enough taxes and a politician loot, we will treat them same way we treat those pocket pickers. Their looting is yet to be personal so we just allow them to do whatever they want.

Let's say you pay tax up to 50% just like in other climes and one politician corners the money meant for NEPA and then you sweat as we do now, next day you meet him, you will be forced to take laws into your hands

Unlike many, I don't do such conspiracies.

There is no government that does that, none whatsoever.

There are many positives from all governments in Nigeria but I insist, the Nigerians are too unimaginative to embrace the opportunities.

Even this thread speaks volume.

Notice how, as soon as I made it an economic discourse, the early dimwits abandoned the thread?

That is typical.

That's simply because you are making a senseless argument

Which rational person would want to argue with someone who has your kinda mentality?

Leadership gives direction and keeps the country focused

I don't understand why someone would expect the citizens to do magic whereas Nigeria has someone what will be best described as a dead president.

A country without strong, visible leadership is finished

And Nigeria is a very good example

Sooner rather than later, everyone will realize that.

You guys should keep using APC, PDP, tribalism and religion to run down this country.

When hunger comes, it won't spare anyone!

Oga face reality!

How many Nigerian made products do you even patronize knowing they don't have good quality?

Money don't go round in this country, is the real problem!

Almost everything is imported and the government is not effectively doing anything to sponsor or assist (quality) productivity in the country, which is part of the causes of ineffective productivity in Nigeria. The gov will rather invest money on one audio rubbish!!

The little Nigerians produces is without quality because of the kind of self support the producers have. Meanwhile in a country like Nigeria, no good quality, no patronizing and the government knows this very well.

Even dangote was somehow assisted by the gov to make it big.

All the money brought in by Yahoo boys and others (like they say) still leaves the country in one way or the other (based on purchases)

We have Nigerians aiding know companies overseas make names. You think we don't have the same kind of persons living among us here in Nigeria?

The govt don't believe in what you can do! They belive in what they can achieve from you before their tenor runs out.

Nigeria is a Dream Killer (if you let it) ....Travel out if you can, then come back when you've made it (if you want) periodt!!!!

The question I would ask you is if this government is inept, were they also responsible for lack of power supply for.the rest 55 years?

Why are you beating around the bush? The govt is dead..
If I may ask, have Nigeria as a country ever experienced "true governance" since you claim its not the fault of the govt?

How dare you turn this against hardworking Nigerians who are doing their very best to survive?

If your answer to my first question is yes, please tell me when and also your definition of "true governance".. let's discuss..

Shoes just like Yams, Cocoa, Palm Kernels or cotton produced in Nigeria can be exported through Ships and cargo planes to anywhere in the world.

Besides we are still importing shoes (including substandard and second hand shoes), so it's better to capture Nigerian markets first before exporting the shoes.

tensazangetsu20:

You talk about producing and trading but your own government closed the borders. Those closed borders continuously affects businesses in Nigeria. The electricity distribution has been privatized since 2013.

Every State should be allowed to generate, transmit and distribute electricity within their territories.
This is my own version of restructuring. the

jedisco:

Stop making excuses for ineptitude. This government is over 5 years but they're still pointing fingers.
Privatisation of some aspects of power generation was a step in the right direction. What I had expected this government to do is to build on that by mandating distribution companies to issue meters to customers much more earlier. After all, most were shedding power even when available as they preferred to use estimated billing and take in profits without doing much. What did the government do for all these years it's been going on? It's now they're trying to find a solution. Even if you claim they were sold to the wrong people, there are ample ways of mandating performance. Look at our refineries. Would you also blame their redundant state on the 'past government'?

Also, another way they could have built on past efforts was by privatising distribution (which the government still hold unto and has continued to run it down) and making it easier for states to produce and supply power locally. It's not rocket science. Keep this government for 20 years and they'd still look for who to blame

Earning Foreign currency on it's own will not supply us food, textiles, ceremic tiles, cement, petrol, tyres, medicines, fertilizers, shoes, bags, drinks etc.

If we can produce 70% of the qualities of these products that we need, there will be no need to be looking for Dollars to import them.

Importation of virtually everything is the main reason why our currency is very weak.
