Little poor "impoverished" CUBA sent doctors to the worst hit area in Italy.

There used to be a Potential Regional Power called NIGERIA.

No Sir,

Nigeria is endowed with Oil Money and Talents. Never mention Nigeria and Poor together. We squander them as International Foreign Aid Donor.

Cuban doctors head to Italy battle coronavirus
Nelson Acosta

HAVANA (Reuters) - Communist-run Cuba said it dispatched a brigade of doctors and nurses to Italy for the first time this weekend to help in the fight against the novel coronavirus at the request of the worst-affected region Lombardy.

The Caribbean island has sent its "armies of white robes" to disaster sites around the world largely in poor countries since its 1959 revolution. Its doctors were in the front lines in the fight against cholera in Haiti and against ebola in West Africa in the 2010s.

I know you mean Nigerian doctors, engineers, accountants and anything that can fetch hard currencies for "Investments" outside.

In my next life God please make me a Nigerian O!

Will the Medical Council in Italy subject them to passing medical licensing exams before tendering the 'help'? huh

Your post was comprehensive and straight to the point.

The point is, when Drs from third world countries approach Europe and America to work ( and perhaps earn a living) they are subjected to rigorous exams and sometimes not employed.
But when Europe is in distress, the same Drs whose qualifications are repudiated, and can only be validated by passing rigorous exams, are welcomed with open arms to work freely without the rigour of exams. Then, after the pandemic, they are thrown out! Abi no be so? First world countries go everly get upper hand in any bargain with third world!

Hustler where is the sarcasm after explaining yourself pointing to your real motive?

Until we point to our accomplishments at home, nobody and nowhere will respect us.

Cuba has accomplishments to point to and welcomed during most disaster because they are not about laundering talents for money. Their education is first class and envy of the world even in the so called Developed countries

Did you hear the point made about Cuba by Sanders in the US Presidential campaign?

Nigeria has one of the most talented people on Earth but we are always for sale. You cannot prostitute yourself for foreign currencies and expect them to respect you.

Thanks for explaining your motive.

Cheers!

You rattle without common sense. Spare me the encomiums on Cuba. As far as I know, it's third world.
I agree with you about fixing home, our education and our facilities. Not until we have quality education that reflects in our ways of life and quality of service in health and social welfare, NO COUNTRY will take our healthcare system seriously.. nor admit our Drs without rigorous scrutiny.
For the records, and just in case you care to know (cos I see where you are driving at with the hustler thing) I'm a medic trained outside, but with passion to see things work at home. Im one of the last bastions of healthcare service providers who'll rather work home than outside. It's really not about the money. For those who really understand the calling, medicine is first a humanitarian profession.

Kampack,

Common sense is not common.

Whatever our line of work, Nigeria and contributions to it in our most productive years must be the goal.

We should not confuse respect for humanitarian services anywhere with opportunity as license to stay put.

I admire you for coming home for whatever reason. You can go back after making a difference we can all be proud of.

The only frustration is, for every step we take forward, others will take us back two steps. At least we can point to something.

I hope you are still young at heart, Thanks.

Fidel Castro: leader proves as divisive in death as he was in life

Perhaps even more vaunted are claims about the standard of Cuba’s healthcare. The island’s reputation for medical excellence – a boon long enjoyed by allied governments and countries struck by natural disaster and medical emergencies – was most recently boosted by the deployment of Cuban medical staff to parts of west Africa during the Ebola crisis.

In October 2014, 15,000 medical workers volunteered to participate in the relief effort. More than 450 specially trained Cuban doctors and nurses arrived in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone to combat the disease, making them the largest single national medical force

Cuba medical doctors are in a class of their own, despite the poor economy of the country.

Don't mind Hustler.

He is a spoiled brat from the most fortunate country in the world where anything you throw on the ground grows. But we throw money and talents away and called Cuba a "third world".

First world Country appreciate the contributions of Cuba. United States campaign appreciate Cuba lifting poor people up.

But a medic wanted license where he qualified and could not practice as a medic. What has that got to do with Cuba?

Poor Nigerians. Open your eyes to opportunities in a Country that used to feed West Africa and was respected as a potential Regional Power.
