1) Noone registers with DHL.
2) DHL dropbox is where all visas are dropped off. I
3) got an email from ustravel.doc ( which like I stated earlier on, i had already registered for pre-emptively by contacting US embassy email for a username and password about 3-4weeks ago prior to the interview date) that told me passport was ready for pickup.
4) I checked CEAC website which i have provided the link above, which told me passport "ISSUED"
5) Also on the us travel.doc website... there was a part for passport tracking which when you click showed that passport was ready for pickup.I mean if one has not registered for us travel .doc I dont know if you will still get an email?
---As long as CEAC and everything else says passport ready for pickup, if i were in your shoes I would go to the DHL dropbox office at VI to pick up my passport by faith, and start travel plans WIth all this coronavirus, if I were in your shoes I wont waste time on the internet, worrying ...and waiting for an email, when every indication is telling you that passport is ready for pickup.
---Alternatively you can figure out a way to contact the dropbox office at VI, maybe google it..or something, to confirm if your pass port is there.
or B) contact or call US embassy ( email, phone) to ask about your passport .

--Best of luck. Thats what I would do.. but hey I'm not you.So do whats best for you

The passport check on ustraveldoc site reports that there is no information on the passport. We will call tomorrow to check. I don’t think my aunt is afraid of a global lockdown. At this time Nigeria is one of the safest place to be in the world. Thanks

No update o, still negative. I am sure they mean well. Giving you visa at this time will just cause you more wahala. With this coronavirus problem, will it be safe enough to golive in US within 6 months? Yet you must use the visa within 6 months otherwise you have lost your Green Card. We can wait. Right now Nigeria still appears safer.

Remember that last week US Govt instructed all citizens and permanent residents worldwide to immediately return to US otherwise be ready to stay outside indefinitely. This is a warning that a total lockdown may be imminent in the very near future because they are expecting situation in the US to get worse. I don’t really want to send my 60+ years old to US at this time because they are the most vulnerable.

I understand. I'm also not ready to travel for now. I'm asthmatic so I'm vulnerable also. I just wanted to be sure if the passport is not released due to the coronavirus or if there is an omission on my own side. BTW, Visa expires in 6 months so no rushing. Thanks.

My husband filed my i-30 in my maiden name.
Now, I'm reading we should have done it in my married name since I plan to change my name.
Since we are not at the NVC stage yet, can I go ahead and get a new passport with my married name?
Will it affect the fact that the application was filed with my maiden name?
I have read it going to be harder and more expensive to change my name on arrival in the US so its better to have the green card issued in my married name.
Please advise.

It’s nothing to panic about Vietnaminfo, The term “Refused” is the word they use now instead of the “administrative processing”. It simply means they are reviewing it. And moreover I’ve seen cases “refused” that later change to issued.

Thanks so much for this. I will keep my fingers closed and wait. Her passport and that of his family members were not collected on the da of their interview. The agent that helped her filled the Immigrant visa form selected NO instead of YES in the column were she was asked if she has ever been deneied Visa application before. I just pray and wish it comes out good.
Re: At The NVC Processing Stage Of The U. S Family Based Preference Category. by zichien: 12:29am On Mar 25, 2020
You didnt tell us what category of visa she applied for. Also did she receive a white paper stating that she is being considered for a waiver? Or did she receive a blue paper? Also was her passport and her police report collected? These are good signs if these were taken. ALso what do you mean by an agent selected No instead of yes when she was asked if she has been denied a visa application? Has she been denied in the past? If so then that may be a problem.

The her Visa Category is F31. She was given a white sheet were she was asked to include the family picture and send to the specified DHL address which she sent. All other documents including their Police Report were submitted on the day of interview. She was not told to include their Passport neither was she asked to include it in the picture sent to them. She has gone for Non Immigrant visa with her son which they were refused. Please, what does she expect to do at this period concerning the visa result? 4 members of her family were interviewed and she happened to be the Principal Applicant. Attached is the white paper given to her after their interview

We are just confused on what to do next

There are no more flights to US so there's nothing you can do except pray that situation is under control by end of April. In fact America knows that it is important to bring things back to normal in as short a time as possible else the economy will not be able to recover for at least 5 years. If you are a believer, pray for America.
Re: At The NVC Processing Stage Of The U. S Family Based Preference Category. by zichien: 1:00am On Mar 29, 2020
I know its such a sad situation! Luckily I saw the signs and was able to move our flight forward to last week. Now praying for health and to be safe against this coronavirus. At the time we took a chance cos cases werent that much in Naija, so it seemed stupid to be flying down to US. Even went ahead to pay for green card sef before living. On the plus side getting into US ( border and custom) was relatively stressfree, infact line was longer for Americans than for others.. which is not typically the case. Hopefully all will die down and everyone would be able to get in before May. But to be proactive I would suggest sending an email to the US embassy, and the consulate in Lagos, asking what would happen if through no fault of your's youre not able to travel before the visa expires due to lock down.
-if I were in your shoes that's what I would do... though I thought the visas are usually issued for 6months? so wondering why you guys waited this long though before making travel plans. Most people travel within a month of getting their visa

Seems she may have been placed in administrative processing, if she was asked to get some documents after her visa interview. If theyve received the documents, I think they handle cases on a first come first serve bases. And now with this Coro thing who knows if they are still going to work or working remotely. Looks like it may be a while before you hear from them...maybe a month or two?It is well. All hope is not lost. Regarding her inadvertently stating that she has never been denied a visa, I dont know if now that her case is in administrative processing and they are doing thorough vetting, if that may be used against her. In everything, especially regarding immigration, its always good to be as honest as possible. Nevertheless all hope is not lost. Sending my prayers. The other 4 applicants where they also issued the white paper requesting additional documents?

Thanks for your cleared reply so far. They are one family members that the mum stood out as the principal applicant. She was only one issued the white paper and asked to send her family picture through DHL address.
