Hand sanitizers are easy to make just that the way you see them make it in ojota here is not hygienic enough. I was in the market on Saturday and I was scared with what I saw.

The best thing is for Nafdac( if they still exist) to go and inspect their production process, if its good, good!!

Once alcohol is involved...is not fake. This is called desperate measures. When all you do is import from China and the government refuse to fund indigenous producers or better still they were frustrated by policies Of NAFDAC, SON etc. A primary one student can make hand sanitizer..it is that simple.

Most of the hand sanitizers imported to Nigeria are homemade. Because they're not in a fancy place doesn't mean it's fake, hand sanitizer is not that difficult to make (YouTube). What I'll suggest is that the regulatory body which is NAFDAC should look deep into this and make sure they adhere to the standard. This innovative prevented the scarcity of hand sanitizers in the country as those pharmacys are inflating the prices (most people can't afford). You'll be shocked to know most Item we use here in Nigeria are made in someone's room in China

No alcoholic drink has enough alcohol to kill viruses. You need 60% alcohol at least. The most alcoholic drink, Rum, has 40% alcohol.

Better to find ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), they're usually 99% alcohol & then when you dilute it with hydrogen peroxide& glycerin OR with aloe Vera gel. It comes down to like 60%, then you can use it as hand sanitizer.

If not, just carry pure water, soap and tissue around with you. And be washing ur hand regularly.

Yes Alcohol (ethanol) is the main ingredient and Aloe Vera gel.

It's largely supposed to be methylated spirit or alcohol...

Any one smelling nice is solely because of addition of fragrance... Spirit or alcohol remains the active ingredient.

Actually, hand sanitizer is something anyone can produce at home. The directions are there online.

The only thing that matters is whether the sanitizer contains a minimum of 60% alcohol. If it does, they should carry on, as far as I am concerned. Poor people may not be able to afford imported hand sanitizers, so if this locally made sanitizer satisfies the minimum requirement as specified by the WHO, this is good. If I were NAFDAC, I would send agents to supervise the mixing of the chemicals just to ensure that the ratio is correct.
