After I finished my degree, waiting to be posted for NYSC , everything became tough, in fact my mom and my younger sis make life tough for me by seeing me as parasite at home, I searched for job and the highest pay was 10k teaching job, I said no I won't do it, I won't settle for less, it get to a stage where my mom started hiding foodstuffs from me, she will only cook food for herself and for my sis, after 4 months of waiting to be mobilised and not been mobilised due my result that isn't ready in sch as a result of my inability to pay 5k reg fee in my final year. I called my friend that live in the city that I want to come and stay with him while I search for some jobs and work pending the time I'll be mobilised, I get to the city, my friend too was managing in his friends single room, with me then we make 3 in that room, I got to know they were Gee boys, they will me laughing at me whenever I went out to submit application letters, they were not rich but they are getting money for feeding and partying weekends, I told them to teach me work but they couldn't, so one day, I spy on my friend phone lock pattern, copied the contact on his well paying client, nurse the client for 4-5 months without him giving me kobo, always telling me he is broke but always giving my friend money, but today, I'm building my house from him, Livin fine, got married , bought my car, taking care of mom and my sis and my maga still paying till date ,may he not fall victim of Coronavirus .

N.B, he started paying me the same week my friend told me to leave their room as they were seeing me as a lower class to them as I couldn't afford to drink and dine with them

It's funny how poor men's kids think studying medicine and surgery or dying on top of ur books is a way out of poverty. It's not. How one starts matters alot, I noticed doctors are the most economical of all workers I know. Those you see with fancy hospital have parents who have climb the leather of success to a certain level and their kids took it up from there. If you start too small, except there a special devine calling or grace, my friend u can't reach your full potentials, quote me anywhere. I envy kids from Rich home, but the irony of it, often times these kids aren't even too focused on life achievements, neither do they value nor know exactly what God has done for them.

But the certificate will always get you a job. When you are able to feed regularly and are paying your rent regularly, then you can be in a situation to think wider.

Well, I didn't only grew up poor, I also grew up disabled after suffering permanent hearing loss since I was a kid in primary school.
As painful as that hearing loss was, it was what later pushed me to go and learn a trade in barbing since my hearing loss will be a great hindrance to my pursuit of higher education as there is no way I could have survived in conventional universities even though I managed to survived conventional high school up to SS2, and the other obvious choice which is a university for the deafs is not an option either as I never learned sign language.
long story short, I am a boss barber now with my own shop and two obedient apprentice.
By God's grace l am completely totally independent and out of poverty.
Doesn't sound so much like a big deal but when l count the number of able bodied people l know who are not doing well as l am and will give anything just to be in my position, and the relations and friends l have been able to assist whenever l could, l can not but say a big thank you to God.

You are the real MVP.

I'm from a northern state where western education is not given much attention. My father is interested in farming but I'm interested in studies because I'm very brilliant.
When I finished primary school I couldn't continue because of the above problem, a friend of my father took me to govt junior secondary of the area and payed one term school fee. When I finished, most of brilliant and average students are wrote science and technical exams to continue Senior secondary education in a better schools (usually boarding), I'm the only one that didn't apply because no one would support me. I'm so depressed and confused. So I continued in the same school (worst case). It turns out to my advantage because during the first term of my SS1, I got scholarship opportunity from American embassy( during G. Bush regime), they sponsor brilliant students to pursue 3 year secondary education in a better school, paying everything and given us books and transport allowances.
I graduated with very good results and later joined university and graduated with first class in engineering.
I was retained as a lecturer and sponsored abroad to further my education. As I speak now, I'm a PhD researcher at Europe and will soon finish my research.
I do alot of hussles from local businesses to private lessons to sustain my self.

I will be 31 by April. I got a BSC in information technology from NOUN. Currently seeking direct entry admission in dentistry. That means that I might be closer to 40 before I am ready for marriage. (Unless a girl would agree to go by with me and hope for tomorrow).

At 33, you are still young. Plus your life is more meaningful because of your education from both school and life.

Some women don't know that they can marry when they are ready just like most men marry when they are ready.

Now that you are ready for marriage, let me tell you a secret. Don't just put your self in the circumstances to be seen by a suitable suitor. Hunt for suitor.

If you go to some good places, you can see men in 30s and 40s determined and responsible but not yet "settled". Can you see a potential and marry the potential rather than already-made?

Hospitals, Universities, Radio station, the press, markets etc. You can locate responsible men there who are determined but not yet "settled".

Can you hunt down a struggling male nurse who is determined but not buoyant enough for wedding expenses? A university staff? A radio presenter? A kerosine retailer?

Search for your niche. The odd is truly stacked against you but you have to be very clear with what you want. It might not be a smooth ride but it is very possible. In my case, I knew my best bet was education but then cost. So, I must go to a Federal Institution. Almighty JAMB almost truncated that ambition before I "borrow sense". I went to polytechnic first before coming back to Unilag. I told myself from day one that I had no parent to look for a job for me. Therefore, I must finish among the very best in my class; with distinct abilities. I actually achieved that and got my job offer (banks; got many) before leaving Unilag. Then come the new face of the struggle; surviving the corporate world. I worked with 4 banks withing 7years and another FMCG. I rarely lack a job but the satisfaction was not there. Then, I had to rely on my talent again for a new beginning. I decided to travel out of the country, but how? Canada? My best choice but quite expensive. Then, I realized I could look for scholarships for my education as the shortest route to whatever location. I started the journey on September 2, 2017, when I sent over 25 emails to lecturers in Australia. It was a very demotivating and difficult process (rejection rate) before God finally gave me that lone voice from the least expected of source. I read Accounting but the person interested in me was an Environmental Scientist (UNISA)! That was when the process started having meaning. To cut the long story short, I did not win the scholarship to UNISA butttttttttttt I won 3 other scholarships - Holland, Austria/Hungary, and Qatar. I eventually settled for Austria/Hungary. On September 2, 2019 (exactly 2 years after) I stepped into my dream in style. While I can't claim to be rich as of today, I am enjoying the very best life has to offer- traveling to countries I never thought of, fantastic accommodation and access to training opportunities.
In essence, concentrate on your talent and never listened to Naysayers. You will meet many of them along your path to success.

I was born in a very poor farmily but things got worse when my dad died(I was in ss11 then). when I went to the polytechnic it was my maternal aunties that paid my fees... I did my HND in Computer Engineering without a phone or laptop, this limited my development (as far as practical learning is concerned). with this and many other challenges, I managed to graduate with 3.50.
I was lucky to be posted to redeemers college of technology and management(RECTEM) for NYSC. we were used for accreditations when NBTE came. my service year at redemption camp was one of the best years of my life...
l remember being called by the registrar. She asked me if I will like to stay with them after my nysc...Why not! I prayed fasted and hoped but it never came to pass. that would have been the. turning point in my life and that of my family...
as at now I'm back home ( Kaduna state) teaching at a private school. I also take private lessons to compliment my small salary
I also bought a laptop hoping to start learning web debt/ programming...
Age is not on my side but I'm not resting on my oars... still hoping... still pushing...

OK, after Corona I will finish my story, but for now, My father was not that rich,,died when I was 11, my rich uncle promised to take care of my school fees so my mum can take care of the rest ,he paid my first term fee, but wanted to fukkk my mum who was still morning her husy, remember,she is still wearing her black clothes, not upto 1 month he died, my mum asked him if he was crazy to make such demand, the uncle became soooo mad and turned his back to my family, we enjoyed the hardship like no other ,in my second year in secondary school, we went to the place my brother was serving someone as a BOI BOI to borrow his only sandals so I could continue with my education, we later went back to him after few years to see if he could change his mind, but he told us to go fuukk ourselves, that day, I told him that in few years to come ,his kids must come to me for help, ladies and gentle men, he said that such will never never happen, because he made enough money that covers his kids till eternity, I was 14 then, and I told him , lets bet it will happen, to my own surprise, he brought out his fat hand and made a bet with me. fast forward 25years later, brothers and sisters, am helping his kids now, there is God and and AS LONG AS AM ALIVE, 100K WILL NEVER NEVER BE A PROBLEM TO ME, AND NOW, I HAVE ATLEAST 30PAIRS OF SHOES
