But for the 1918 pandemic, my Grandpa used to regale me with stories about it. That one actually killed more than 50million. Compared to covid killing rate now, that 1918 influenza Isa monster and Corona is just learning work.

If you watch foreign stations, you'll see it.

That's the N95 compliant mask. It is far more effective at keeping out tiny viruses than the regular surgical masks you see around.

So I've been telling folks for long now. Surgical masks are an in to out protector. They are worn during clinical or surgical procedure to prevent the medical officer contaminating the patient, equipment or specimens. In the Covid 19 battle they are worn to protect the patient not the doctor and worn by those infected to prevent them spreading it to others.

The minimum standard fir disposable protection is the N95 series of masks, tthe best out there produced by 3M. The cheapest ones retail for about N25,000 a pack.

Generally if you can maintain a social distance you don't need them even in public. I wouldn't wear them exceot if visiting a hospital. One is more likely to contract the virus off surfaces making frequent hand washing and sanitizing a more effective preventive measure.

That is actually the best mask. The problem is that most of them are not wearing it well. It should be hooked on the ear and not the neck.

Also, if you are not sick please do not wear masks unless you are caring in a hospital unit where infected ones are being treated.

Best practice is social distancing, washing hands with soap and avoid touching your face if you have not washed your hands.
