Excuzeme: Like you said the government created the holes for things like this to be happening. How could people who flew from one country to another possibly give false addresses? |

Border, border, borders; take border control seriously, wuna no gree. Let us count: terrorism, border; Ebola, border; foreign rice, border; Covid, border; Buhari from Sudan, border; Atiku from Cameroon, border; Kanu from England, border; stoking of ethnic tension from House of Trolls kumasi; border. No border control, no nation. |

The federal government says it is tracing no fewer than 4,370 people that have contacts with index cases of the novel Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19). The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made this known on Thursday in Abuja, while giving an update on the measures being taken by the government to tackle the pandemic. “We have 4,370 people of interest whom we are tracing, and we urge those who have had contact with suspected cases to immediately report to the authorities. “We urge Nigerians to support the authorities in this regard, because we are on the verge of reaching the level of community spread. “We must stop this immediately or we will record exponential cases in the days ahead,” he said. The minister noted that being positive to Coronavirus is not a death sentence, and there is no justification for people not to surrender themselves for test. He said some Nigerians, who flew into the country from overseas, filled wrong addresses and phone numbers in their forms, making it difficult to trace them when the need arose. “We are not getting the kind of cooperation that this moment deserves from Nigerians. “Many are busy engaging in meaningless criticisms instead of complying with the stipulated directives to keep people safe. “Some Nigerians defied orders to stay away from large gatherings, while some religious leaders wilfully flouted the directives to ensure social distancing. “The government is doing its best, but we need the citizens to do their best too,” he said. The minister said it has got to the stage when government would have to use “strong enforcement” for people to comply with directives aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19. (NAN) Did these people fly into Nigeria using broomsticks? Do Airlines no longer have manifests with peoples names on them? If they have them, is it difficult tracing them through their phone numbers using the service providers? This is what you get when a country is being led by a bunch of selfish individuals. |

if this 4370 shi is actually correct mehn we are in deep shit and i dont think the capability is there. the technical know how may be but the other Tina involved nko. if we survive this i guess this would be a wake up call for a proper data base of every nigerian(an good attempt can be made via bank details) schools, churches, mosques etc. and demanding accountable leaders |

Ecstasy154: It's what called CONTACT TRACING... The FG is NOT looking for these people... Rather, the FG is keeping track of ("tracing" ) them. > |
Re: Coronavirus: FG Tracing 4,370 People by wirinet(m): 4:58am On Mar 27, 2020 |
9jaRealist:Contract tracing will not work with a highly infectious disease like coronavirus. Many people who had it never had direct contact with infected person. The disease can be spread by picking it from a sneezing infected person in a crowded space or touching an object recently touched by an infected person. You don't need direct contact to spread it. So how will you trace someone you never met? |
Re: Coronavirus: FG Tracing 4,370 People by 9jaRealist: 5:21am On Mar 27, 2020 |
wirinet: You make it sound as if it's the only thing the FG is doing. Contract tracing is merely ONE tool out of several... Albeit a CRUCIAL tool - as we cannot efficiently fight infectious disease without contact tracing! PS: Btw, your comment is IRRELEVANT to my initial comment, which was merely a contextual clarification of the term 'tracing'. > |
Re: Coronavirus: FG Tracing 4,370 People by wirinet(m): 6:24am On Mar 27, 2020 |
9jaRealist:Once again contract tracing is useless on a highly infectious disease like coronavirus. How many people can you trace? How many people you quarantine if found positive? How many countries have contact tracing helped in curtailing corona virus spread? South Korea, a model on how to beat corona virus never bothered about contact tracing, they tested everybody that needs testing and started treating infected people immediately. Nigeria that had only tested less than 200 people is talking about contact tracing. They think corona virus is Ebola or lassa fever. |

Now FG is looking a way to embezzle the funds they mapped out to affected covid-19 patients and small scale business whom this virus disrupt their welfare. |

LAI IS NOT LOOKING FOR ANYBODY. Have you seen any announcement anywhere of the FG announcing that people should come forward? When LASG was looking for two individuals they went on the airwaves and announced their names and within 24 hours the people were found. Why do we assume that the people gave fake addresses? How many addresses in Nigeria are traceable? Do you blame them if they even gave fake addresses? In today’s nigeria with the myriad of security challenges - who will feel comfortable leaving his address on a paper that might end up at a Suya joint! Truth is that form on arrival was needless- all they needed was the flight manifest and mandatory isolation and testing of all people who flew into Nigeria from high risk countries. They failed to do that and are now shamelessly blaming Nigerians. They have chosen the difficult way of physically tracing individual addresses instead of announcing for people to come Because it offers them the opportunity to embezzle more money FACT! |
