The depth of the crater created can be used to establish a decision

maybe or maybe not, should we all go back to sleep now because some idiots police force claim responsibility?

like they won't face the wrath of the law for such carelessness and investigation will be shut off because one idiot force claimed responsibility

there must be an investigation okay, we won't have this under the carpet as Lagos own was covered up

The dynamites that exploded were loaded on a truck of course.
Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by Day169: 1:16am On Mar 29, 2020
Well judging from the size of the crater and the extensive damage caused to buildings, which were some considerable distance away, I believe that there must have been a huge shock wave generated by the explosion.
I wonder who would bear the responsibility for the damages and how soon the hapless people affected would be given some respite.
PS.. the looming lockdown of the nation wont help matters either.

You guys should try to understand that if its actually dynamite, There is surpose to be multiple explosions.

Clearly not dynamites , it was a large single explosive devise that went of in one solid explosion ..

It was a truck loaded with dynamites. If it was a terror attack as you claim, will a serious terrorist strike a lonely road in the outskirts of town around 1am, far away from occupied houses, where there is no possibility of casualties?

You have been insinuating that it is a VBIED. Do you think VBIEDs are made of one single large bomb?

Its not a terror attack.... Wish you came on site.
Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by fistonati(m): 1:47am On Mar 29, 2020
This is possibly another terrorist attack because the depth of the explosion site is more than a truck size that police claimed it to be. While the Abúlé Ado explosion remained a mystery as govt could not ascertain the course.

Depending on the charge used and the rigger ,if it a nitroglycerin based bomb the rigger might right many charges together to go off as one huge charge blast but for C-composition RDX based charge like I suspect was used here because of the blast signature on single charge is usually deployed .
Re: Aerial Pictures Of Akure Explosion by Nobody: 1:59am On Mar 29, 2020
Planet earth is in trouble.

That was how meteorites hit Wakanda.

There is no need for all these theories. The quarry company in Edo State that owns the dynamites is known. They followed due process to move it with escort from EOD department of the Police.

Quarry companies use this stuff everyday to blast off large chunks of granite, limestone, marble etc from the ground.

They do transport it by road from point of purchase to quarry site. It's only unfortunate that an accident occurred this time.

Modified:
See a similar situation that happened in the US causing a very similar sized crater. Read from the link.

Wow!
A better means of transportation of such huge amounts of explosives should be devised. This is just too dangerous.
What if this happened in a more populated area?

First and foremost most of the dynamite used for rock blasting are set up as low velocity charges and not high velocity , the composition of each charge is determined by the blast master after seeing the rock he wants to blast and the charge is actually set up fully at the blast site .. when dynamite charges for rock blasting are being transported they are mostly flat , meaning there setoff composition and charge compression has not been set and if the catch fire at the point what you will have is a low velocity combustion and not a high velocity explosion just like burning a ware house filled with match sticks ...and again primary setoff charge called the blasting cap will never be transported in the same vehicle as the donkey charge ( the charge that does the work ) .

I have attached a video so you understand how dynamites are set up on site to by blast masters ( just like cooking) to get desired explosion ..it's very hard to set quarry dynamite off because the rock is part of the structure of the explosive

All these analysis is meaningless. You are talking about high velocity/low velocity. What do you think dynamites meant for blasting hard rocks will do? these things aren't toys.
Dynamites are very high explosives that's why they are widely used in mining.

The explosion caused by one stick of dynamite is really massive. Imagine what happens when a truck loaded with hundreds of sticks catches fire.

Forget about the sticks of dynamite you see in films please , that's not how the dynamites used for rock blasting work , in rock blasting the dynamite is set up at site just like your are cooking and the rock is the final ingredients that encases the mixture to secure the compression needed for a particular velocity of blast .... Even if fire guts a truck carrying dynamite bags what you will get is a low velocity combustion just like gunpowder or matches burning and even if it's your movie type dynamite sticks the will erupt like in many small explosions and not a single explosion..you don't understand how different explosives are set up
