Its a welcome development, but total would have been a better measure to stop the spread. Some policemen are collecting money from motorist at inter state borders to allow them enter the state.

Ogun governor is even closing international borders ?
Lol ... this Buhari is a shithole, I swear.

When we tell zombies that Abba Kyari is the de facto president of Nigeria and that Buhari is just a piece of Mannequin decorating
the Villa, they argue.

Since Kyari was quarantined for Covid 19, nothing seems to be happening in the villa again. No one is giving orders.
Buhari is senile, lifeless and only used in the Villa for photoshoot.

Every governor is now a president and commander-in-Chief of his state.

How could this possibly affect Nairaland?
My business does not run on food and medicine. What happens if my inverter or generator gets damaged and I need spare parts from Lagos? Coronavirus is a complicated problem, and it requires brainy solutions. Simplistic solutions like randomly shutting things down won't cut it.

Oga Seun, that's the best solution at the moment.

If you assess what's happening elsewhere in the world, you will understand why these lockdown measures are critical at this time.

Nairaland will get more traffic as more and more people will become broke. As a result, they will be looking for online jobs and stay active online as the stay-at-home order continues

Closing interstate borders is actually very silly at this point.

You can limit movement but closing? Also states don't have jurisdictions over federal roads. Are you telling me you are going to Lock Lagos-ibadan expressway and limit the movement of millions moving to other states ?

What about fuel tankers? People returning from Lagos to other states? It takes only one essential service person to infect thousands so closing interstate borders won't work.

We aren't testing enough so we can nip things in the bud
and isolate people we are closing interstate borders instead. Like there is a physical border between Lagos and Ogun that you can just carry stick and block the movement of people. Nigerian politicians are always dumb, always putting the cart before the horse.

This is stupid. I hope it doesn't affect Nairaland. The #ShutDownNigeria people don't have a very deep understanding of how an economy works. The vast majority of business activities in a developing country like Nigeria are essential. Very few people going to Lagos just for fun. Our leaders think that shutting things down is a viable alternative to massive testing and isolation of those who test positive, and we are cheering them on. There is no quick fix to the Coronavirus. There is no alternative to massive testing, isolation and contact tracing. We have to use our brains.

To be shutting down a country to stop a virus is like shooting a man dead to kill the sickness in his body. Does it work? Yes. But it's also stupid. I say instead of that, find a drug that targets the sickness in his body and kills it without killing the man. That's the only real solution to this issue.

Very true. I have reservations about shutting everything down. Our economy will suffer more for it.

Alaba market has being short down since last week. If the stay at home and short down order persit for 6month, nigeria will experience a high food scarcity.
