An asteroid/meteor was passing dangerously close to earth.

Has anyone thought that a tiny chunk may have broken off and impacted earth in Akure?

Yes. That was what I suspected when I saw the crater.

Well, I will say it is a shame that a "giant of Africa" that we claim to be, we have no sophisticated and highly equipped Forensic department or institution. Imagine the number of casualties and the extent of damages this would have caused if it had exploded within an inhabited populated neighbourhood??

From these pictures, it is possible it must have been as a result of an exploded truck carrying dynamites. But, where are the fragments from the strong metallic truck?? Has there been any report of a truck to deliver those dynamites labelled missing from it's destination?? Or, if it is a terrorist attack, has anyone claimed to be responsible yet? Did anyone saw the so called truck before it exploded? And how?

Don't let us forget that this could be the impact of a asteroid. It's possible. But, I want to believe it could be a truck explosion carrying dynamites truly. But, let the fragments further prove us true.

God help us in Nigeria

All these analysis is meaningless. You are talking about high velocity/low velocity. What do you think dynamites meant for blasting hard rocks will do? these things aren't toys.
Dynamites are very high explosives that's why they are widely used in mining.

The explosion caused by one stick of dynamite is really massive. Imagine what happens when a truck loaded with hundreds of sticks catches fire.
As Some People Have Rightly Said, Dynamites Are Not Highly Explosive Used For Breaking Rock And Mind You It Is Used To Break Rocks In Wells For Households. Another Thing Is That The Dynamite Can't Be Assembled Until It Gets To The Final Users Because Of Safety Precaution And Finally No Physical Evidence Of The Truck In Question Except Those Explosive Were More Powerful Than Dynamite. Their Is More To This Incident

Asteroid exploded in atmosphere? Was it the city's missile defence system that detonated it?
Shed more light.

when an asteroid or meteorite approach the earth from space (space have no air) in high velocity and heat air compression in the atmosphere(nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen + asteroid heat) forces itself into openings in the meteorite or asteroid causing it to explode like a bomb.

MetaPhysical:
We must use law of physics to analyze the crater, regardless of the blast agent that caused it.

Back when America was fighting in Fallujah and the insurgents were using IEDs there were similar craters of lesser scale but resulting from explosives buried into the ground with heat and vibration sensors placed on the road surface. A small car can pass over the sensor and not cause a reaction but if a large truck, typical of the American reinforced Armored Vehicles, approach it, the vibration alone could set off the sensor and cause an ERUPTION with upward force that lifts the truck about two storeys up in the air before it freed-drops back to ground and disintegrates.

This crater in Akure shows motive. A pre-arranged deployment. A choreographed act!

When an explosive discharges on the surface, it disperses force in all directions because it is uncontrolled, uncontained and not directed....zero choreography!

Here are questions to ask -
1. Where are debris from the transporting truck. A crater this deep will not leave a truck or trucks in one piece. In fact it cannot be driven out of there because the explosion will also cause a secondary explosion in its fuel tank and burn it down, assuming it remained in one piece, which is impossible.

2. There is a road, and then we see two dark tracks that looks like rails or pipes. It cannot be railway tracks considering the sharp turn angle towards the edge of the crater. What are those tracks?

3. What is the relationship of the damaged buildings to the crater? There is no connection on the ground between the two. If this image was from drone it can be scaled to connect the nearby buildings to the crater. Why has that not been done?

4. The shape of the crater looks like the mouth of a funnel and is uniform around. The bottom-center of the crater is the point from which the energy force distributed out. The force went off from a subterranean core and erupted upward and outward, exhuming soil.

5. An explosion from surface down into the ground penetrates a hole...not a funnel!

There is a bigger and hidden agenda than the police have owned up to. Now, since the police acted as the mouthpiece for this agenda....they must also account for why their story is not supported by the physics and character of the crater.

Nice analyst, but could you explain 4 and 5 more I don't understand it

There is no need for all these theories. The quarry company in Edo State that owns the dynamites is known. They followed due process to move it with escort from EOD department of the Police.

Quarry companies use this stuff everyday to blast off large chunks of granite, limestone, marble etc from the ground.

They do transport it by road from point of purchase to quarry site. It's only unfortunate that an accident occurred this time.

If it was a truck.... Where are the sharpnel and remains of the so called truck? Where's th3 chassis, the engine? Even a tyre rim? Were they all vaporised by the explosion? I doubt it... This looks more like an asteroid/meteorite ,those are more likely to dematerialize upon impact. Govt should stop covering up and own up to what really happened. The story about the truck laden with explosives and even the way the police man told the story are both highly suspicious

If the convoy had been able to move a kilometer or two, there would have been less or no damages to buildings. As we can see from this map found on Google.

I think there was an explosion.
I think the military was moving a bomb of some sort.
I don't think it was dynamite or dynamites. It wouldn't have been one single bang. Only a single bang can make a crater almost 100m deep.
First statement was explosives being moved to an armoury in the next State.
Later statement became quarry in next state was getting explosives being delivered.
People threw on dynamite part of the statement.
Is there a military or police armoury in adjoining states to Ondo.
Which quarry or mining companies are in adjoining states to Ondo state.

Nigerian government (FG and States) need to understand that people make mistakes. Always COVERING issues erodes trust.
US Army also experience the same with explosives. It's not a big deal.

If there was more transparency, all these conjectures won't be everywhere.

From all analysis on this thread, it is easy to discern two divergent opinions; one believing the statement of Police/ Government and the other believing a conspiracy theory/ terror attack especially its occurrence just days after the Abule Ado explosion.

We also know the divides each of the proponents of the opinions come from.

To the proponents of the conspiracy/ theory terror attack (who are expressing what they wish for the South West), I wish to ask the following questions

1. Which terror group will achieve the success of Abule Ado explosion and not claim responsibility?

2. Which terror group will
deploy its resources to attack an area of sparse human habitation like the Akure explosion when there are area of dense population in the same city and of course, forgot to claim responsibility?

We in the South west believe what the government says and we also know that their is no terrorism in the South West. Terrorism is festering in the North East because the Northern elite wants it.

Planet earth is in trouble.

That was how meteorites hit Wakanda.
It’s not a meteor or asteroid, looking at the aerial view, meteor or asteroids don’t drop vertically, they slid Horizontally due to the earth’s rotation and gravitation pulls. That’s definitely a bomb explosion.

You said dynamites in transit are not highly explosive? Pls click and read the story below. In the case being reported, all it took to blow up the truck conveying the dynamites to site was a snipers bullet.

You can't be serious. Are you seriously telling me that it's not dynamite sticks they use in blasting stones? I know that they used to mix things inside.

Let me tell you something. I am from Akamkpa LGA in Cross River State..(Netim to be precise) we are the headquarters of granite and limestone in this area. We have up to 30 quarries here producing chippings, we have UNICEM (now Lafarge) cement factory at Mfamosin. I cannot remember the year I first saw how they blast stone here.

I don't think you have ever entered where there is stone before yet you are arguing.

Guy if truly you are from old netim and have truly worked in a quarry then you will know that that blast was not done by the kind of dynamite used in quarry.

I have worked in Crushed Rock ( old netim), prodeco (old netim) Rcc ( Akampka) and Ground Resources ( ekondo) old netim and I can tell you that explotion is not from quarry dynamite

Check this news out and tell me the difference between the craters.
