COVID 19..... My Experience. by Originalsly: 12:07pm On Mar 29, 2020
I had COVID 19... but did not know. Did I take a test to know I had it? No. then how did I know? ... because of the information available after.

A little background. I'm based in New York City... work outdoors... doing deliveries... door to door. It is hazardous health wise... in the sense that I have to do face to face with customers....never know who has a contagious disease.... caught bronchitis twice.

February..... still winter... cold...but a few days great fluctuation in the weather... like cold morning to midday... then it becomes warm... then a bit hot.. and boom... the temperature plunges. This gets a lot of people sick. COVID 19 was pretty much a Chinese problem....and becoming a major one in Italy... but not here... so little info about the virus was being broadcast.

One morning I felt odd.... itchy throat... and not too energetic.... went to work anyways. Usually work long hours... returned feeling tire and burnt out. Thought fatigued. Next morning... throat been scratching... energy level not there... called out ....to rest and remedy the expected "cold". For 3 days... the cold.never came... slight dry cough... called out again....not going to work. Used honey and lime.....no change. Went to the doctor.... really to get documentation for work purposes. Not a drug user... prefer natural remedies. He prescribed 3 drugs... googled them... one was a pain killer... forgot the other two... used the combination twice... no relief... abandoned them. The coughing got more persistent.... dry... nothing to spit... figured I had bronchitis. Start taking antibiotics. Went out to the 24/7 green grocer to get some fruits and rations.... a less than 200m return trip.... I drove. I felt better as soon as I was outside...as if outside had pure oxygen. Returned... got parking like 50 footsteps from home. Got to the door.... me... who be walking from sunrise to sunset and climbing stairs... panting... shortness of breath. Is like can't take long deep breaths.... more like half breaths in... half breaths out. Got the keys to unlock the door.... noticed my fingers were all trembling....held out both hands... both were trembling. That really got my attention. Got upstairs.... began to feel feverish. The thing was...the fever was on the inside... no sweating... just this heat in the chest area. Then I feared pneumonia. That hung around....went away for a few hours...and came right back. The coughing revved up.... no single coughs... came like in series..... felt like I needed to cough out my throat for it to stop... spat nothing substantial.... with bronchitis....I spat brown stuff... this the little may just be normal throat mucus. One night it got real bad.... left me gasping for breath. Decided will go to Emergency the next day.... two hospitals... opposite each other.... 200 meters from me. I had Dengu3 in 5h3 past.... but this was something else. Drank hot chicken soup the morning.... felt relieved. Things eased up.... but the coughing lingered on for a while... not severe...but gradually becoming less frequent. What I did notice.... was a relief each time after drinking hot soup. This whole.episode kept me home for 3 full weeks... returned to work... felt very good the first day....weather good... was warm...way above normal. Second day... started off warm... but temps began to drop after 2 pm... the cough was increasing. Finished the day... next day called out for the week. More info on the virus was available and I began to suspect I was a victim.

Later learned...the virus is basically DNA covered by a very thin layer of 'fat'. ...if the fat is 'melted' the virus is destroyed. Whatever melts fats....destroys the virus.... heat... drink hot fluids regularly to help destroy whatever virus may be ganging up in the throat waiting to enter the lungs. Alcohol above 65% as in rubbing alcohol and sanitizers...soaps... bleach...1:5....1part bleach 5 parts water....all these stuffs break down fats. Antibiotics.... herbs do not breed down fats so would be ineffective.
Thanks for reading... hope it helped.

Yes ... been back to work. The thing is.... I'm not sure if I can contract it again. That is my fear.... it is widespread in the city now. The question was asked in an interview....and a few people in China did contract it twice. Yesterday morning...woke up with a slight cough.... took a bath... coughed again... promptly called out....self isolated... but nothing developed ... no sore throat...or.more coughing. Been boosting my immune system... the best weapon to fight this virus.

This reads like it was Covid-19. the virus mutates a lot so the risk of re-infection isn’t very low but you shouldn’t worry about that, at least not in the short term because your immune system is way up by now.

Like you, although mine didn’t last as long (a few days), I had a high fever and bronchitis or some weird kind of pneumonia like symptoms in late January. I thought it was the flu but I didn’t even have a running nose. I had the urge to cough at times and felt it was developing so I went to the hospital, flu test was negative. I was surprised considering how sick I felt the day before as it was the worst type of ‘flu’ that I’d experienced because I always joked about it that I thought I was going to die. I was extremely fatigued as well.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your age range and do you have any pre-existing health issue?. Also, did you notice anyone around that got sick with similar symptoms before or after you.

Nice thread.

Eye opening.

I do wish that you recover in full and never contract the virus again.

Not a young gun!....and no history of medical problems....except the bronchitis.....non smoker... non drinker!....and yeah... that feeling fatigued is something else! Doesn't matter what you had... you would feel different... and by now realize it's COVID 19. I'm back out ... unisolated... . social distance is unavoidable.... armed with lysol spray... N95 respirator... that one be keeping out the virus and fresh air!..just pull it up when in 'traffic'. My immune system should be prepared... but how strong it is now after the battle I'm not sure nor taking chances.

Interesting. It was really different but because mine was in January I’m not so sure so I’m taking no chances. Many experiences like yours I’ve heard about that also tested negative for flu support all that speculation about to Covid-19 being around longer than January in the US so many more people are/have been infected, or have recovered from it already.

Did you see a video about an FDA/CDC guy being asked in a panel if it was possible that those who died from the flu last year actually died of coronavirus and he confirmed that they actually did some post-mortem tests and found that to be true.

How’s it out there on the road ... Stay safe!

Didn't see the video but wouldn't be surprised since at that time they more likely were familiar with the old one but not this new one. Seems like they are not sure if the virus dies with its victim. They are not readily handing over the dead to the families....but instead storing them separately in refrigerated trucks.
The road..hmmmm..... as if people.got word that something is about to go down..... not even on Sundays the road is as desolate.
