Not being able to see one's mistake is the greatest problem a person can have. tbh

The writer said Yorubas prefer to be in one political party as against multiple political parties, but your brother thought he meant Yorubas were tribalistic.

Although, the writer is not totally correct about the Yorubas because no other tribe in Nigeria today allows opposition to trive more the the Yorubas. Yorubas gave PDP a substantial amount of votes in 2014 and 2019 whilst the Apc won by narrow margins.

Same can not be said of North where Apc won by a wide margin and East/ South where PDP won by a very wide margin.

Awo olaniyi...I no get ur strength filled with sentiment.

How is my comment biased?

I gave you facts about what transpired

Igbos(Easterners) are easily manipulated emotionally because of an illogical attachment to their ethnic group.

A person says igbo is great and you guys jump up like you have made it in life or like the statement changes anything in reality, but when the same person tells you the truth, he or she becomes your enemy.

You have simply reinforced the writer's stereotype. cheesy

If you single out the east alone for tribalism in a country like Nigeria, then you are either below 20yrs or you are not a full blooded Igbo.

Those who hold same views with you have always accused Igbos as been the ones who thwarted the breaking up of Nigeria through Nnamdi Azikiwe. They have always accused igbo of been the ones that truncated regionalism to install federal system through Ironsi.

Igbos live in every nooks and crannies of this country even annoyingly in the remotest parts. Is this a sign of a tribalistic people?

How man Yorubas are your village and how many more built good houses in your town which brings development?

How many hausas rented decent accommodation in your town and how many of them built houses?

Did Igbos ever stop any stranger from building industries in Igboland?

When Ojukwu formed Apga and tried his best possible to regionalize it like the ACN, what happened? How many Igbos were in Apga? My mum was in PDP while my dad was in Apga and there were no issues at all.

In the 80s, my mum was in NPN while Dad was NPP, yet again no issues.

But other tribes have always accused igbos of not liking themselves and preferring to support outsiders against themselves, is that a tribalistic trait?

I initially didn't wanna come here when I saw the topic because I didn't want to use a bad language on Sarrki this morning because I thought the thread was one of his numerous failed attempts at journalism and he is a well known IGBO hater, but later on I decided to come in only to discover that the topic was a misnomer!!

I disagree with the list 1000x
Below is the list that reflects Nigeria

Religion Moves The North

(If you want to incite the people talk about religion)

Tribalism Moves The West
,
(If you want to twinkle the people talk in dialect)

Ethnicity Moves The East

(If you want to spark the people talk about history)

Read well I think you seconded the argument of the op.you used another word when talks about west which mean the west want her tribe States to be within political circle all other thing is all the same with op

@ emboldened

Would you say those that tolerated others in their lands are the problem or those that came into others territory, only to mock the host are the problem.

In South Africa, Ghana etc. igbos are being targeted.

You should sit down and ask yourself why is this happening?

The answer is not far from the writer's opinion about you guy's way of thinking.

Sometimes you need to see things from others perspective and not the perspective of your ethnic group alone.

Meanwhile, the Writer of this article is an igbo not Sarraki. You are often too emotional.

Ethnicity in that topic context is wrong... and only meant tribalism, which is totally different from what you elaborated on the article.

Could have better been described as Equity and justice drives the East..

The examples you listed there of various "Easterners" (sarowiwa, biafra war, adaka boro) it was not based on tribalism, but wanted equity and fairness to include their region, space, area, location etc...

Well your comment is base on sentiment has an Igbo man.
1-You started with "Easterners" grouping the south south people and south east people into one group, trying to create oneness among us.
2-The old eastern region was a government by Igbo, for Igbo and of Igbo. Adaka boro couldn't take the inequality and oppression, were an Igbo man could purchase land and transact business anywhere in the eastern region without government approval, while the minority tribes will have to travel to Enugu to apply to buy land in their own locality.

As regards those who accuse Igbos of tribalism, they are really bitter that can't control Igbos and Igbos by nature don't believe in one directive just like other tribes which supports a political party holder like zombies especially what we see in this present regime, without any logical reasoning. Those who open threads daily just to insult Igbos are the most tribalistic creatures roaming the earth. I wonder if their brains can't function properly without Igbo matter. These are the kind of people that grow up into elders in their communities and people will be saying an old man/woman is always wise, not knowing they were once youths who acted foolishly and eat, live and made love on up of hate/tribalism and eventually grow to an old man/woman deceiving he's/her community members that they are wise.

No we can't be done. You have an erroneous mindset about Igbos which is unfortunate.

Tell me an Igbo man likes money and I will applaud you, but you saying Igbos are the most tribalistic in a place like Nigeria is a great disservice to a people who were massacred in their millions by a combination of federal and foreign forces, left for dead, but still survived and prospered and still prospering.

Apart from police stations and Army barracks, which other federal presence do you see in your Anambra state? Is this not enough to make people of that region fvcking annoyed with the system?

See Bros, if you check, you will notice that I don't praise-sing Igbo politicians and leaders because I believe they have failed we the younger ones.

Rather than close ranks and resist the shenanigans of the Nigerian government, they allow themselves to be broken into fragments and bought over with appointments and contracts that are never coming sometimes.

This attitude of disunity is a fall out of the civil war that ravaged Igboland. So to survive, dog started eating dog. It's the case in every war torn zone world over. The no victor no vanguish anthem of the war was a farce!

Till today, the theater of war, SE was never rebuilt! But even as the war continues to rage in the NE, there's already a North east development commission rebuilding the place!

And you still can't see these things for yourself?

Don't mind them. Naturally I will tread with caution when dealing with people who want me dead. Just imagine a fellow Nigeria telling another tribe(Igbos) that they will never be president and you expect me and my love ones to play with you its not possible. It seems most Nigerians are naturally wicked and mischievous. All they think is how to oppress their neighbour that's why we are still in this state. Other countries the government try to help the needy but here its opposite. Just imagine having those popular tribalistic and hateful beings here who preach hate as president, they will make sure the Igbos suffer. Such a wicked world we live in. With all their propaganda the eastern part of Nigeria will keep progressing

In the South-East and the South-South, a different scenario plays out. Religion and politics do not make the people draw the lines. What fires them up is more of ethnic loyalty.

Yet you have refused to tell me your town and village in Anambra for a better analysis.

You sound emotional and may be convinced in your view. It depends on your circumstances.

May be your mum ain't Igbo and Anambra people strongly refused their son to marry her and this has marred so many offsprings arising from such unions. They grow up thinking they are hated by people who should love them.

Igbos will never vote for anyone that has Buhari characteristics rather they will vote for someone that is progressive without minding were the person comes from. Keep telling yourself that while you run away from the truth.

Atiku that igbos voted for is Fulani with many wives and many cases of corruption to the extent that he cannot travel to America. Yet, you voted for him because he campaigned on the platform of PDP where your stake is protected.

You need to give up the mentality that your choices and everything about are always the best simply because you are igbo.

You need a dictionary bruv

I said igbos form unnecessary attachment to their tribe. The writer clearly stated what drives igbos is ethnic loyalty.

Ethnic loyalties. People are naturally tribal in the sense of wanting or needing to be part of a close-knit group (or groups).

You need to go off the grid and enroll in a night school for adult.
